I found this reported from nbc news affiliate wsfa at first I just couldn't believe it & I thought this had to be some error then I read the story & was just flabbergasted
Albertville, Ala. -- Police say a Marshall County teen raped his mother to get revenge on his brother.
Police say 19-year-old Gary Helms, Jr., raped his 45-year-old mother at Willow Terrace Trailer Park on Doyle Drive in Albertville.
It's a twisted crime that police say Helms admits.
"From what we understand the rape stemmed from an argument between him and his brother. And apparently they were arguing over a girlfriend. And the rape was some sort of retaliation towards his brother," said Sgt. Jamie Smith of the Albertville Police Department.
It was unusual retaliation on an unsuspecting victim.
Authorities say Helms' mother was apparently passed out drunk on the couch when the rape started.
"During the attack she did come to and recognize her attacker. (Reporter: As her son?) As her son," said Smith.
That's when, according to the police report, the mother "tried to get away, but he held her down until he was finished."
"It's totally sick is what it is," said Smith.
Helms was arrested and charged with the 1st degree rape of his own mother.
Smith says it's hard to wrap your mind around.
"Shocked, shocked would be more a better way to describe it. That somebody would dip to the lows to do something of this nature. It's just pretty much a shock to the conscience of the general public," said Smith.
Helms held in the Marshall County Jail on $100,000 bond.

This type of behavior is kind of weird, more so because we don't usually see or hear about it regularly. What we do see more often is fathers raping their daughters, which is equally if not more disgusting. One wonders how these kids were raised by their parents and if it is the trend today. Both of them should undergo counselling.

Yes, it is weird. And you are right about both of them, mother and son, to get couselling. There must be something wrong with the mother, too. It is very evident. Her sons were fighting and she didn't bother about it at all. She still had the time to get drunk despite the commotion and then lay in that couch afterwards. A most untoward thing for a loving and concerned mother to do.

This is almost beyond belief.
I cannot imagine what state of mind this boy had to be in to do something like that to his own mom. It's all very well to do this in revenge for the argument with his brother but why pick on his mom like that? It's just not making any sense to me.
I hope that she is able to come to terms with this and try to put it behind her. Not only has she got to deal with the whole ordeal of being raped at all, but she has the added ordeal of knowing she was raped by her own son. It's going to take her a long long time to get over this.

Well well, we must not look at one side of the picture. First of all, I'd blame his mother for all this inhuman act. How did she raise her sons? which way did she raise her sons? If she had raised her in good environment, it would not have happened. Why did she pass out drunk in front of her kids? Is it what humanity teaches us? She must have taught them how to behave well with other people. She must have such environment that made her kids do this. She must be arrested too.
God knows better.

Not taking up for the son, but to blame the victim isn't right, either. I've seen kids do bad things even though they had wonderful and loving parents. Obviously she has issues, since she was drunk on the sofa, but to blame her for what her 19 year old son did isn't fair, either. We don't know how they were raised. Maybe she never drank before that day? Who really knows? Blaming her for the rape isn't fair, though. Does any person deserved to be raped?

i think the way children are brought up in that soceity is responsible for the incident.
children at a very early age are forced to sleep separately away from parents so that the parents can enjoy their life without the bother of the children. such kids become offensive by nature as they are always alone when they fear something. there is nobody but themselves around at night when kids really feel afraid of the rainman or the tree spookily shadowing out in the window. naturally as we know offense is the best defence in jungle law, they tend towards offence.
secondly being always away from parents detatch the children very soon from them. and there always is the generation gap and other things to widen this gap.
the incident is a fruit of all this.

That is gross and it makes me feel really bad for the mother and how bad she feels and how confused, disappointed, and upset she must be. Maybe even angry or sad. I can't believe someone would do something like this to their own mother, the person who birthed them, loved them, cared for them, raised them. It just blows my mind.

There has got to be some explanation why he did this. The lad is definately unwell, but I am wondering if this goes back to his history and what has happened to him in the past.
Sometimes people who have been raped become rapers. It's not always so but, if he has undealt issues in his past then it could explain why he did this. His parents might have raped him.
He needs help fast otherwise he will continue to rape people and he will not get help in prison they will torture him. He needs psychological care. I actually feel deeply sad for him and I am not saying it is right what he did he is a very sick individual.

How in the heck is that supposed to be an attack on his BROTHER?? How is that getting even?? I have no idea what that kid could have been thinking??? I couldn't even imagine someone doing something like that! As a mother I couldn't imagine one of my sons doing something like that, either, much less to ME! That is a whole new level of sick and twisted.

I will like to say at this point that the woman is reaping the work of her hand. For a boy of 19 years old to get such a courage to rape her own mother, could you imaging the amount of young girls in the street he would have done that to.Let us look from the discusion between the boy and his brother it indicate that the whole family are the same thing. The mother a drinker, the youngest boy in the house a raper, the elder brother a raper too because the boy is carring refenge back on his brother.without any doubt their father will be a gang ster or drinker too.I don't think they suppose to allow such a news to get into public hearing because God punishment is already in that family.

OH MY...I'm really just speechless about the whole thing. All I can say is this is yet another example with people with very sick minds in action. This is very sickening and tasteless behavior. They don't need to let this kid out any time soon. He needs to learn a hard lesson. You DON'T rape anyone, and totally not your own family! Ewwww :(
