Do You Think Pets are Psychic?

Animals are supposed to be more sensitive than we humans and I was wondering if perhaps you think animals, especially our pets that we own are psychic--To give you a for instance. When my mother was alive, she often told me, that for at least a good full half hour before I came home, my cats would go to our front door, and in effect waiting for me...oddly enough though they never did that with her...but does this mean my cats sensed I was coming home??

cats are very sensitive creatures, and what i like about them is that they know how to express their feelings. My cats are like that too, they look like tigers crouched in our front porch waiting for me or my brother to come home from work. There was even one time when there was a storm and it was really raining really hard and i wasnt home, Spot was constantly crying. It was only when i arrived home that she calmed down. i guess she also knew that the weather conditions were bad and i was still out of the house.

It's funny you mention about thunderstorms. My one cat is terrified of them, and as soon as she hears just the begining of a storm goes running under my bed! And yes cats are very sensitive--could probably start an arguement over which is more sensitive--cats or dogs?? Probably the winner would be cats of course!

I believe that on some level they know, because people say animals have 6th senses. But also some people think that animals just remember what time you usually get home and they know what time it is during the day, so that could be another explantion as to why your cats do that! But its cute they want you home so bad! =)

Perhaps that might be true that animals --pets-- may have a sense of time and can know when to expect you home...but how would you explain when you come home at different hours....or how about those stories we hear that animals can sense when earthquakes are about to happen...hey they would be better seismologist than the machines themselves--LOL

I don't know if they're psychic. They are definitely better at non-verbal communication. My wife and I do laugh at one thing though. My birds are afraid of my wife's sister. Whenever the her sister calls on the phone they scatter and hide. They do this before we answer or anything. They don't react to the phone like that at any other time. Somehow they can just sense it's her...

That's funny--my cats have the same reaction to certain people..they absolutely hate our building's super...even if he is still outside my door, and even before he rings the bell, they sense it's him and run and hide--like I said, they just can't stand him--LOL

Cats have much better hearing than we do - they often get used to a person's walk or the sounds of their keys jingling. They can also smell a lot better than we do! I often find my cats leering out the window at a stray cat or a raccoon that I didn't hear or see.
So it's not that they're psychic, but that it only appears that way to us Humans. We just don't have the same talents that they do! :)

True cats do have keener hearing...but it's strange that my cats would only sit in front of the door when they knew it was me coming home..never did that with my mom--LOL

my calico does that with my brother.she sits at the end of the staircase 1 hour before he comes in waiting for him-and if he's late at all,she gives him hell.
i have no idea how she knows what time it is.

Cats have an internal clock just like people. If they fall into the same routine of you coming home at the same time and comforting them, they will get exctied and wait for you.

I don't know about psychic - but perhaps they do sense or feel or see things that humans don't. Their senses (touch, smell, hearing, vision, etc) are more acute than ours - perhaps they could smell or hear you coming before you got there, but to us it appears psychic, and your mom would smell or sound differently than you do.
My doggie, Dani (see pic) is my baby - and she seems to know when it's me at the door because she doesn't bark when I come home, but if someone else comes to the door, she barks her head off if the door handle even rattles.

I think they are, my first cat got sick and we had to get him put down. But for the week or so before that (when we didn't even know he was sick yet) he would come and sit on my bed every night when he never used to do it much at all.
And my cat after that she did kinda the same. She was just sitting in the hallway one day (she was sick and going slightly mental by then I think lol) so I sat down beside her and she just climbed into my lap and sat there for ages. I just started crying. I think they know when their time is up and they want to let you know that they love you :)

I do defintly believe our pets are psychic. I think they're just a ball of energy that makes our lives better. They know when where in need of love and are sad, they know when were coming home, and they know when something is wrong. Plus I believe they see ghosts and spirits. I know mine does...they chase something around all the time in our house that we can't see. LOL
My sister tried to kill herself when she was 14 or 15 and her friend called 911 and the ambulance broke into my moms house. My mom woke up with cat at her feet staring at her and the ambulance there too. While my sister was in lock down her cat would pase her room and then go back to where my mom was. Her cat is not a people person so this was very unusual behavior from her.

I do believe that animals see a lot more than we do, thats for sure.
My cat especially knows when my Spirit Guide is nearby and will sit and watch her. It's quite unnerving at times to see the cat staring at what appears to be nothing lol.
She also knows when my partner is home. She goes and sits by the door and without fail, he walks in the door five minutes later.
I'd like to say that she hears the car, but we live in an apartment complex and the parking lot is right around the other side of the building.
I think they sense a lot more because they're not inihibted by human emotions and fears.

I had a cat that used to love cheese, and she would always appear whenever you got the cheese out of the fridge! No matter how quiet I used to be, or even if she was outside...she knew when the cheese was out lol

I sometimes wonder if that is why pets, especially cats suddenly go a bit berserk for no apparant reason--do they "see" something we don't and that is why they react in a bizarre manner--supposedly we are surrounded by spirit guides all the time, and perhaps even the spirits of those family members that are no longer alive--so while we might not be aware of the presence of such, our pets certainly do.

could be
cats don't have everyday problems like we do
just food, warmth, chasing mice, so even though they have smaller brains, they can concentrate on things that matter

maybe, because one time i was looking for the other pair of my sock at my room and my cat was liying near the door and when he saw me looking for something i think he sense that, he walked and sit at the side of my closet and when look on its side because theres a small space between the side of my closet and the wall. I pat his head and while cuddling him, i saw the other pair of my sock in there.

Animals certainly pick up on our moods thats for sure. Im convinced our dog knows when one of the family is ill. Also, he goes mad when the kids are due home from school, particularly if they are a few minits late
blessed be

Yes I have pulled up to my house and there would be one of my cats sitting in the window waiting for me to pull up. And I have often wondered that. They will do it when my husband is about to come home too. So somehow they do know when we are about to arrive. Its really the strangest thing.
