Do you celebrate Easter?

Easter - Easter bunny

At our house Easter is big holiday. When my boys were little they would get easter baskets from the easter bunny. There would always be one special gift from him. Something they could all do together. Like a swimming pool. Or a garden basket with all the things needed to grow a garden. They loved their candy and toys from the baskets and I loved making the baskets. I usually spent too much money but I figured they would remember them. At around noon we would have our easter dinner . We always had ham with pineapples and a glaze. Mashed potato and gravy. Spring veggies like asparagus or artichokes. Broccoli and cauliflower. Olives, pickles and deviled eggs.Strawberry shortcake whipped whipped cream for dessert. Then we watch one of the easter movies about Jesus life and resurrection. If it was nice we might even go to the park for some fun and fresh air. So how do you celebrate Easter and do you have regular traditions you do each year? Easter is less than a week away. Better get too planning.

Normally I would go down to my retreat by the sea for Easter, I am not a Christian so don't celebrate Christmas although I make the exception when it comes to eating chocolate eggs and hot cross buns (although they are available all year round in this country) sadly the retreat is fully booked this year, so I'm going two weekends afterwards. My housemate is around sadly for Easter, apart from getting extra time off it's nothing special in this household.

when there were kids around we used to have the chocolate bunnies, but now there are no kids and I am diabetic so that is out. Normally I would cook a big dinner with turkey and ham but not anymore, I am too sick and too tired now. We just eat an ordinary meal.

easter basket - an easter basket full of treats for kiddies
Now that my son is already 2 years old and appreciates celebrations like these, I'm planning to buy some chocolate eggs and put them inside a basket or make up a game to see if he can find the eggs before I can give him a prize. I wanted him to join an easter egg hunt in a mall but he's not yet qualified because he's 1 year younger, probably next year we'll do it. Also we'll be going to the beach or rent a swimming pool this coming easter sunday so I suppose I'll incorporate the sorroundings to our celebration.

Yes i remember my two year old son joining in on the eater egg Hunt . he got pushed and shoved and all the kids pretty much took his eggs away from him. I think even three is too young unless they are all the same age. I was so mad that year. Why didn't thy just have one for younger kids instead of all ages. Anyways thanks for sharing and i hope your son loves his Easter basket.

Actually I like Easter and also the Easter mass. At easter we generally don't do much but we do go off giving away eggs to people who like to have them. I don't know but we don't have a proper custom here but still I like the day and the celebrations. Actually is a family holiday and most of my friends also have holidays so we go for nice outings or fun with friends and enjoy the day out in some nice place. I don't have much plans about this Easter as I am waiting to see what happens. Any ways Take Care May GOD Bless YOU

Holy Week and Easter are not in the Holy Bible. That's why many people are no longer celebrating such occasion. We also do not celebrate the Holy Week and Easter for the same reasons.

Being a Christian since birth, Easter is celebrated like Christmas in our family. It's not just an ordinary family get together but more of a community bonding. When I was still a child, I am too excited to join egg hunting or participating in an egg painting worshop in my favorite fastfood chain, McDonald's. But now that I am already a grown up, I devote my time into community service, giving fun to our less fortunate brothers and sisters. Instead of being just a participant, we are now the one who's conducting funfilled games for them which teaches values that they can bring home. Easter is such a very fun day for our redeemer has risen again! Happy Easter to everyone!

Not for several years. The closest we get to celebrating anything is christmas which may or may not include presents, and a barbecued chicken. It's never been thatbig of a thing unless we've fone travelling to visit relatives who make a big thing out of holidays.

Thats exactaly how we celebrate easter with my whole family. I usually make the easter dinner and make easter baskets for all the little kids in my family like cousins and nieces. Then I have a easter egg hunt.I fill the plastic eggs with coins or some with dollars. They get so excited when they find them. we usually eat early too. Then we play games outside that is if its nice outside.

Easter is celebrated at our home. It is a time for spiritual reflection and renewal. While we may not be in church this year, (we are between churches) we will definitely be remembering the reason for the holiday and counting our blessings. We will fix an Easter dinner and have my aging parents over to eat with us. We too will have a ham and probably in an effort to keep the preparation on Easter Sunday to a minimum I will do potatoe salad (I can prepar it the day before), green beans (also prepared the day before), rolls, iced tea and some desert. There will also be deviled eggs. (got to use up those colored eggs!) Despite the fact that the two children who remain at home are 16 and 17, they enjoy coloring eggs! The bunny doesn't leave easter baskets per say, but there will be a chocolate bunny or something for them!

My family and I celebrate easter mostly in church activities and then a healthy celebration follows in the house. For the holy week from monday to friday we mostly stayed in the house and then go to church but when saturday and sunday arrived that was one of the big event wherein family gathers and prepare a easter hunt on the garden. Sometimes we are in the convent celebrating with other streetchildren.
