last night i had the most bizarre dream. It was like a mix of everything I have ever seen. I was walking around with characters off my favourite shows. In a bizarre almost gaming console type world and I realised... Its all my imagination. I have decided to write down all my dreams/nightmares and make them into my novel. I obviously will change the names of people that i dream about but I wanna know if you think this is a good idea?? I mean it is my subconcious imagination making me dream this stuff... dya think it would make a good novel? Eventually obviously. Not straight away. It will take work. Anyone else have this kind of idea to start writing your novel? had anyone written a novel? how did you do it? I need help really! Please let me know!

Dreams are the best place to get ideas for your writing. It is said that if you pray for guidance before you go to sleep, some ideas will come to you in your dreams. Even keep your notebook under your pillow. I have actually dreamed ONE scene from my current novel. I hadn't written it. My dream wrote it for me. I was thrilled when I woke up with something to add to my story. Take what you have a work with it but expect to change and revise it.

I agree but nightmares can make it difficult to concentrate on what you have dreamed.

I am taking both nightmares and dreams. Lol. As I love horror films more often than not I have nightmares wake up heart beating so fast as I am always the one in trouble or falling or something and its great to sit there and write it down, I have written a whole book before now with just nightmares or managed to mingle into one. It creeped me out to read but my fella thought it was brilliant. But in the move from one house to the other my paperwork was all stored in a garage and it got totally ruined. Ive had to start again now :(

I have dreams, unsual, bizzare, horrifying almost every night. And quite many times I remember them even after I wake up and the ones that really left an impact on me are put down on writing, you see dreams can be a good source of inspiration and ideas for writing a book. It is a good idea, and the most original, plaigiarism-free you can get outta you, ! :D Yes I have written books, none of which are completed. I just get even before I could go a few pages far.

i think the best books must come from dreams?? especially those which are really bizarre and really stir your imagination?? they are the best for me and i hope to one day be an author of one of those!

I often get caught up in things that I have watched on tv and it often is a mix of what I viewed during the past. I have some pretty wierd dreams that way. I sometimes have to get up and wake completely up to get rid of them.

Mine was a combination of Halo 2 (Xbox game dont know if you have heard of it but it is a multi player multi map game) and i was IN one of the maps being chased by the ravers from serenity! Plus alot of other things. My heart was racing when I woke up. I thought I was gonna have a heart attack! lol

I wrote down my dreams (memorable ones with strong messages) and some of ´visions´ and put the ´informations´ by playing with some ´symbols´. And then I put those symbols as Tattoo. And then I follow what happening to me in ´real life´ and experiences, according to those ´symbols´. After some times, I start writing it -at first- as ´diary´. Then that is where I started it. Took some times, like years for me, even to put some words to start writing it as a story. I am still developing some of the characters and stories.

Wow that is a great way to go about it... Mine is kinda like a diary I suppose except I don't write it every day... Just when something memorable happens. I only started a few weeks ago so it will take me a long time but Im sure I will get it going soon... many of my dreams fit in together anyways so they are already like a chapter of the book. Hehe

Hi, I've never written a novel, but I think your dreams are a good springboard to start them off.. I had a dream not so long ago and we were making up a game, I remember thinking in my dream that I shall have to write it down. Unfortunately I can't remember what the game was or anything about it now :-( go for it what have you got to lose?
