IMO the best cameras are Canon for quality. If you're going for something simpler then Fuji's are not too bad either. I have an SLR version and it's really good quality.

Sony is the best I know. Cybershot digital cameras are one of those good in the market.Cybershot DSC-T100(The best in features )are Carl Zeiss Lens, 5x Optical and 8x HD smart Zoom, BIONZ imaging processor, Image Stabilizer, ISO 3200 high sensitivity 1920*1080 resolution comaptible with full HD TV plus it has a very clear LCD.
This is good. A must buy.

The SONY makes a varity of digital cameras and you have a wide choice to select according to your pocket as well as your technical need.
As such the brand does matter while going for a camera but the resolution & the lense makes the real difference to your photography I think.
Wish you a great enjoyment in photography in the life.

the digicam (if you mentioned 'pocket digital camera'), most of the brand has near same quality (if the 'megapixel' same or nearly same).
So,i prefer you go to camera shop, look what you like from the shape (note: find camera with minimum 4 or 5 MP), and try which one has 'user friendly' to take picture.
