i think that goes pretty much for all of us, but do you give it long enough to decide?

I wait until people stop respondin to the discussion before I award the best response. I just got done awarding some peopel best responses that responded to discussions that are on my last pages.

i try to wait till people stop responding. i get alot of good answers and it is hard the choose sometimes but i look at what i asked and see who really answered what i asked. i know i have seen people give BR after like 30 mins. i dont understand how they can do that either. i spoke with a few that only give them to there friends which i believe is wrong.

Any discussions that haven't been replied to for over 3-4 weeks i will look at and award a best response. I generally go through my unresolved discussions near to the end of the month and award all the best responses to discussiosn of mine unreplied to for 3+ weeks.

I read through all my responses and pick the one that was thought out the most, whether it be in favor of my discussion or otherwise.

I try my best for a week or two to pass, before I choose a best response. By this, I would allow others to post and give more explanations on whatever topic I am discussing. If ever I seen one from the moment, I just let it stand for a while and wait for others to post for their best effort.
I have some unresolved discussions too, so I tried to make it a habit to help others while they also help me.

I try and read all my response's before giving a BR, however it might be one of the first that have replied anyway and it might look as if I have given it almost immediately which I haven't.
I also try and answer all my responses too but I see many that do not.

oh yeah..I noticed that too, I guess it's thier preference though It's a bit sad because you know that even how good your response would be, you'll never get that Best response award anymore.
For me, I try to wait a little, sometimes weeks and then give the award..just giving myself more time, who knows someone might pop up and respond to that discussion.

People are all different and they do things differently. I have seen some awarding best responses within the hour - given when there is only a handful of responses. I normally answer discussions by my friends within a day or 2 of their posting (if I am answering anyway). And sometimes, I find after responding that the best response has already been given. Especially when I have put it effort to give a quality answer, I think it is understandable that I will feel discouraged. So if this happens too often to the same person, I might make a mental note to sort of boycott his discussions or just answer with a short, non-quality answer.
For me, I normally let the discussions stew a little for weeks on average. Every month end, you will see me resolving a fair number of discussions in time for payout too.
That said, it is up to the individual to decide when to award the best response ultimately. ;-)

To be honest, it's something I forget to do quite often. I never give a best response in the first day. I would say that I usually only give one after about eight posts. Sometimes however, there is more than one good answer and it's difficult to choose which one is the best.

Generally speaking, I personally like to wait until it's been about a week since anyone has responded to the discussion before awarding a best response. I don't know why some people award them the same day the discussion is started. I don't understand that one myself, but I have observed the practice. When I do decide to award a best response, I like to choose whichever answer I feel is the most thought-out. That is, whoever I feel probably put the most effort and thought into their answer will get the best response (whether or not I know them or agree with whatever it is that they said).

I usually wait a few days or until the answers seem to stop and then I choose ... I wouldn't think about choosing on the same day because I think people need time to answer
But some people have weird ways of giving best answers ... like I have talked to someone who only gave best answers to their referrals! One was giving best response to any first person answering their post! and so on...
I usually review very carefully all my answers and try to find the response that answers best my question ...

I think it's better to wait until you have a good number of responses--maybe perhaps at least ten or twenty--depending on how popular the topic is
