Are you a handyman? Do you fix everything in the house by yourself or do you call in professionals to do the job?

Together with my partner i am able to do most everything in the house myself. i think this is really useful. having to rely on professionals for every little thing takes to much time, is too much of a hassle, and is far too expensive.

I had certificate on electrical enginearing. Normally, if problem with electrical at my house... i do it my self. I also doing the plumbing job but for easy task only. If it hard or need time do it, i will ask for professional to do the job.

It depends on the job. If it's internal electrical, I ALWAYS call the pros. If it's surface electrical - like reqiring a switch, or installing a light fixture, I do it myself. Minor plumbing repairs, or plumbing replacements, I do it myself. Of course, my old house was easier to work on, as everything was exposed in the basement, so we'll see if the new house is as easy to work on. But yeah, I do most repairs myself, or with my husband. everything from carpentry to concrete to drywall... we can do it well and don't need pros.

I am a handywoman. heehee My dad is very good at plumbing, electrical, etc... just because when he grew up he had all kinds of part time jobs (temp jobs too) to help put food on my grandparents table. He learned all kinds of different things that he has passed on to me. Also, I like to learn things and not have to depend on people as much as possible. My grandfather always told me if you want something done and done to your specifications do it yourself. I can wallpaper as well as other gurlie decorative things, I can lay bricks, do electrical, plumbing, lay sement, drywall, shingle, weld, etc.....

Nope but have always thought of taking up a class or two in how to fix stuff around the house. Big repairs are done by professionals, small repairs my husband attempts to fix them, and most of the time he does.
