Just when I thought it was spring...

Picture taken today in my town - This is a photo of the street downtown today. Snow, bleh!

Until yesterday, the snow was almost gone here. I was wearing a light jacket to work, walking home from work, enjoying the sight of grass... until yesterday. Yesterday the blizzard started. Today every single bank except the one where I work closed before the end of regular hours. The snow was piled so high outside the door we normally use to leave work that we had to go to the door in the drive-through, which is partially protected by roof. And the snow shows no sign of stopping. The blizzard warning that was supposed to expire at 8pm tonight has now been extended to 8am tomorrow. I'm crushed. I was so excited about spring, about taking more walks, getting my son more fresh air, doing the spring cleaning... and now I know those things will have to wait, again. How would you feel about a spring blizzard?

I had to look in your profile to find out again where you were in the world. Yes it got cooler here in Tennessee also, but cooler means temps in the 50's and freezing at night. We have been in the 80's all week long, well actually near that for 2 weeks. I was born in Chicago and I truly hate to visit the my northern relatives in the winter time. You all can keep all of that snow and cold. I am not envious.

UH huh !! Yep and I like looking at pictures of clean crisp air, and freezing snow :)) Kentucky gets a lot more snow per year than we do here. We don't hardly have a fall it goes from summer to winter and in the spring from winter to summer. I have already turned the air con on a couple of times in the evenings.

Okay, that's it! Now I know where I want to go next time I can afford a vacation! *laughs* I have been in Tennessee a bit. I stayed in Nashville for a bit as a teenager, and I've been to Opryland (when it existed) as well as vacationing in places like Gatlinburg when I was younger. I can't believe you've had the air on already! Wow.

Ooooh nice! I'd take Tennessee right about now! I'd even take Kentucky (which is where I grew up) right about now! It's pretty crazy here. I live right on Lake Superior almost, so we get tons of lake effect snow. The air is very clean though, which is great for my health, and we have some very pretty scenery. (See how hard I'm trying to be positive?)

That is just the opposite of what is happening here. Occasionally we've had a cooler day - not cool, but so much cooler than the high temp and even higher humidity, and I've thought "Autumn at last! Over a month late, but here at last!" Then the steamy weather has returned. Still, overall it is much cooler and the nights are tolerable, so I cannot complain. I really wasn't built for this climate, but I love it here and wouldn't move elsewhere, so I have to put up with the steamy heat of a l-o-n-g summer.

That's happened to me before too. It's okay. I'll just comment on this one since it was last. Haha! That's just how I feel about here! I wasn't built for this climate, but I just have to put up with it, because there are so many other good things about the place. =) Too bad we can't switch for a day though! I could use some steamy heat right about now!

Wow. I can't even imagine. I has snowed in April here, but it's a great rarity. And it would cause a LOT of damage if we had a blizzard right now, since all the tulips and daffodils are out, and the fruit trees are in full bloom. It would be strange if it happened, as I have already started mowing the lawn, and doing spring plantings. Hope you thaw out, soon!

That would be horrible, if the snow came after all the plants had come out. Thankfully there isn't much like that going on here yet! Thanks! =)

oh Lecanis I know how you feel. We were supposed to drive this weekend to Columbus (to visit with friends) but we decided against it on sunday 'cos when we checked up on the weather it said snow showers! Don't worry dear I think it should become fairly sunny by next midweek at least that's what the met guys say. So cheerup and warm yourself with a hot cup of cocoa with marshmallows, cuddle up with your hubby and enjoy the outgoing winter! put all the spring projects on hold for another week and then you can put your heart and soul into all the things you want to do. Cheer up :)

Aww it's sad that you had to postpone your trip! For me it's just a matter of my day off being tomorrow and having a lot of ideas of things I wanted to get done, including taking the baby for some fresh air, which obviously isn't going to happen now! =p Thanks for some very good advice!

I thought spring was here, too. I live outside of Pittsburgh and on Tuesday it was over 80 degrees and my kids were out in shorts and tank tops and today it is barely 30 degrees and it is snowing (just flurries though). Just in time for my daughter to have off of school for Easter break. Ugh. Stupid weather.

The winter before we moved to Florida from Michigan we had a blizzard in April. We had a snow day at school. That was the final descision for my mother to move to Florida. She'd had enough of it by then. I miss the snow but I know that it is late in the year for you to have it. I feel for you. I bet you were not too happy when you saw all that white stuff this morning. Right now I wish it was a bit cooler here. We've already had to turn on the a/c which tells me the Summer is going to be blistering. I know not what you want to hear at this point sorry. Try and stay warm and remember it won't last too much longer.

*laughs* That was just the last straw, eh? No, I wasn't too happy. I have big plans for spring, so I'm a little impatient for it this year! Wow, it does seem a little early to be having to use a/c. I feel for you too! =p Of course, wherever we live, we'll all complain about the weather, I think it's just human nature. Though my husband and I keep talking about someday moving somewhere warmer. We just haven't because some people we know here are very important to us, and it would be very hard to move away from them. That, and this area is very very beautiful, and the clean air is the best thing in the world for my asthma.

Spring will be here for good by June 1. We live in Michigan, where there is no such thing as global warming. Thus, we live for the long lasting winter months...from November thru April. You guys still have glaciers in the U.P. don't you?

Oooooh all I can say is Ouch! We had snow showers the beginning of the week. We ended up with a half centimeter which had all melted by the afternoon. Back when I lived in Ontario, the winter I experienced was crazy. The snow just kept on coming, and then by the very beginning of April it suddenly warmed up. We were going out wearing a light jacket and capri's. It got so warm I showed the first signs of a tan. Then the very next week we had a HUGE dump of snow. We ended up with around 7 inches of the cold white stuff in a blizzard that raged for 2 days. It's like Mother Nature decides to turn the tables on us, just to let us know that she hasn't decided to totally shake the grip of Winter from us just yet. I hate when that happens.

Well I'm glad your wasn't so bad! *nods* I saw a lot of unlucky college students who had already taken their winter stuff home to their parents yesterday. Poor kids slogging through over 2 feet of snow with no boots and sweatshirts on, not a pretty sight!

I know what you mean. We don't have the snow, but boy did we get the cold. It has been in the 70's and lower 80's for over two weeks. On tuesday evening a strong cold front came in. It has gone from 80 to 40 in one day! It has been in the lower twentys at night. I had alot of my garden out. I covered lot of it up lastnight, but I would say it will still get nipped. All the corn was up too:( I would say I will have to start all over. I told my son the Easter bunny will have ice hanging from his tail, and the marshmellow eggs will be froze solid. LOL

You should come over here than! We've had lots of sunshine over the past week and it's set to last into the weekend. We're also set for one of our warmest summers. Personally I hate the heat, but unless I leave the country I'll just have to put up with it!

I can sympathize with you. I too have been enjoying warmer weather and started wearing my jeans jacket. Now they are talking about snow in NYC, and the temps have dropped. I had my windows opened, getting fresh air in my apartment and BAM!!! It's cold again...what can we do but deal with it? I wish you many, many warm days very soon...Take care, stay warm and dry!

Well it snowed where I am too, but not a blizzard. I'm not happy about it at all since we've already gotten used to the weather warming up and the bulbs are sprouting. It's not the first time though that we've gotten snow in April.
