I don't really have anything against people who smoke but when they do it in public and in areas designated as non-smoking areas, it really annoys me. Have you ever been in this situation? How do you ask someone to put out their cigarette..., Politely?

You ask them if they can please move cos the smoke is bothering you. My guess is they might look at you strangely cos if they are so inconsiderate to smoke in someone's face in the first place, they are gonna think again about moving away or stubbing out!I hate people smoking in public!! hate hate hate!!

I would like to think that smokers could follow the signs that say no smoking in areas. That they will restrict themselves to smoking areas. However just like there are very rude non-smokers there are very rude smokers. I would suggest saying politly to them "That this is a non-smoking area. The smoking area is actually..." and let them know where it is. Most will take the hint with that.
