I think we have entered a new Genre of Horror Movies

Please tell me if you have noticed this... It seems MANY of the NEWER Horror movies are going for the "TOTAL DEVASTATION" effect and kind of leaving the ending in a dismal state. In older Horror movies, there was usually a survivor, regardless of weather Freddie or Jason was after them...Now, like SAW 3...there really isn't a survivor. Everyone dies and it leaves you "bummed" about watching it in the first place. It takes all the entertainment out of it. We all have a "side" of us that gets in to being scared but the lift at the end watching SOMEBODY overcome whatever was "after" them seems to be vanishing. Anyone else notice this or feel this way?
