From childhood to adulthood, how have your taste buds changed?

And how have you flavor preferences changed? It's interesting to observe the changes in my own tastes. I used to love sweet or sour only, and I would only eat foods with no condiments, or with mayo, depending on the food. Now? My tastes are very wide-ranging. I'm not a big fan of super sweet foods anymore (for example, I now love dark chocolate, but I don't like milk chocolate too much). I enjoy different flavor sensations in general. What led to my excursion into different flavors? Probably when I turned 21 and began drinking craft beer, wine, and straight liquors. I read various rating sites for beer and wine, and I began buying and tasting various different types of both, training myself to notice the subtle nuances in all of them. Now, I can do that with pretty much anything, and the more I notice, the more my tastes change.

The taste buds will be very sensitive during child hood. Thas the reason we cannot forget the taste of mothers food. Smoking, drinking , chewing pan etc.. will reduce the tasting ability thus require more spices to increase the appetite.

Every one's taste change every few years. I think it's because our needs change as we get older. I no longer enjoy drinking kool aid. nor do I crave water melon. I can eat it but it's a thing to be taken or left. Ice cream is another one that I can take or leave and when I was a child I wanted it all the time. I now like canned peas and fresh peas as well as many other vegetables. I hated them as a child

All I can think of is when I was a kid I hated frankfurters and mustared, but now I like both. I hated turnips, but it was so bad, I would never dream of tasting them as an adult! :))

I use to love pork, not my body has allergies to it... I used to could not stand chicken very much, now all I ever want to eat is chicken. I could not stand vegatables.. Now I eat lots of onions, dandelions, and other wild edibles. - DNatureofDTrain

I drink lager but I guess that's not a difference from the tastes I had when I was young because I wasn't allowed to drink it before I was eighteen. Other than that, I like much the same things now as I did when I was younger. I love bacon pudding, and a wide range of vegetables and fruit, as well as sweet things. So, I don't think my taste buds have changed at all. Brightest Blessings.

Well, my tastebuds haven't really had a drastic change from then when I was a kid. I have always been easy to feed, I eat almost anything. I'm not very picky with food. The only thing that could have changed is that then, I use to drink soft drinks and colas, and now, I don't. I feel like they're too sweet that my teeth are going to fall off when I drink colas. But my love for chocolates is still the same. It's just that now I have a greater preference for dark, just like you, over milk chocolate, which was the kind that I used to eat when I was younger.

It is kind of weird how tastes change from year to year. I was always (and still am) picky about the texture and smell of food rather than the taste. I haven't had many taste changes throughout the course of my life, but I have had a few. The most noticable one is mushrooms. I used to HATE mushrooms. Now I'll eat them and think they're actually pretty good sometimes.

In my childhood I would eat food only for its taste. I was a very fussy eater in my childhood, but now I eat food to maintain good health and weight. Iam no longer fussy about any food. May be as we grow our taste buds also grow.

Mine changed quite a lot to be honest. I used to hate things that had Garlic, Eggs or Onion in them. I refused to eat vegetables and regularly had arguments with my mother about not eating them. Salads were out of the question. Nowadays, I love anything with Garlic, Eggs, Onion, and I enjoy a good Salad too. I'm not sure when my tastes changed insofar as the garlic and stuff went, but I can tell you exactly when I got a liking for Salad. That happened when I first visited my partner. His mom always made individual Salads to go with Dinner, and I didn't like to say that I didn't like them. I decided I'd try to force it down and I actually ended up liking it lol. There are many different things I enjoy these days that I used to turn my nose up at. Rice and things like that all go down well, though I wouldn't even touch it as a kid. As your taste buds mature, so do you, and you realize that things that you thought you didn't like might not be that bad after all. I certainly discovered that in a huge way.

My taste buds haven't changed too much...Although I can withstand spicier food now. That's because when I grew up, I started eating spicy food all the time. Now, things I found spicy when I was a child are no longer spicy at all. That's not a bad thing I guess. I also don't like candy as much anymore. Sometimes I find it too overbearingly sweet to the point my teeth hurt. I'm not sure what led to the change for sweets but I presume it's a good thing since I don't have anymore cavities.
