Don't bother with the Iams until the recall has been officially cleared. I use Wiskas and Special Kitty as well and have had no problem with them.
you must be Canadian since Special Kitty is a Canadian product. :)

We feed our cat Purina Pro Plan becuase that's what her vet recommended when we first got her, but I am a bit nervous about it even though it's not on the recall list. I still give it to her, supplement with her daily dose of tuna and have been keeping a closer than usual eye on her litter habits.
Strange, I know, but she's part of the family and I would do it if I was afraid one of us was sick.

We feed our cats the Nutro Complete dry for indoor adult cats and have switched temporarily to the Meow Mix pouch food.
I was just talking to the vet today and she recommended to keep the same dry for cats, but to every now and then change up their wet food so they are use to different textures of wet food. She said this is good because you never know when you will have to do a special diet due to illness. They have seen many cats who have never had wet cat food and have to eat it due to a tooth extraction, but won't touch the food because they don't know what it is. The cats will allow themselves to starve rather than eat something they are not familiar with.
before buying any food for you cat read the label. That is the key to buying the best food for your cat. Try to get something that doesn't have a lot of preservatives in it, avoid anything that has "meat by products" as an ingredient or the main ingredient is any type of grain.

We only buy Science diet for our cats, it is more expensive then most but our cats deserve the best. This is the food our vet recommended to us. We have been buying it for over 8 years.

Go to a reputable market and ask if they have a list of the items that have been recalled. They should be happy to furnish you with a list.

Its hard to choose isnt it. I used to buy Iams until the local cat rescue place told me that Iams supported unnecssary animal testing, and I cannot now in conscience buy it knowing that animals will suffer based on the company using my money to fund these practices. I usually but a supermarket own brand from places where their animal welfare policy is well documented, but they also eat peoplefood, we often cook more of whatever we are eating so the cats can have that as long as its not going to be bad for them. So a meat and vegetable stew with rice we would happily give the cats for example.

Well with all of the recalls lately it is hard to make a suggestion. I also use special Kitty and have about 5 pounds left. I am hoping that they get this figured out soon. I am probably going to make his food after that is gone if they haven't solved the problem by then.

i feed mine friskies-i'd never had a problem with it.
i had been feeding them special kitty before-but my female cat was throwing up from it long before the recall.i'm pretty certain she has a sensitivity to the kibble dye.anything with vivid color seems to make her ill.
