If there are no cars around , will you walk across the roads even the red light is on, or you will wait until it turns to green light?
How about other people ? Do they walk across the road and feel strange on you if you wait for the green light?
How long do you need to wait for the green light?
Do you get enough time to corss the road?
What if you are driving, will you keep going at the red light if there are no one on the road??
I usually walk cross the road even the red light is on if i do not see any cars coming, but even in the green light,I need to be in a hurry because the drivers here can also cross the roads when the pedestrian green light is on, I feel a bit dangerous even the drivers will not really move when they see you crossing the road, but if I walk across the road slowly, some rude drivers may stare at me ..

No boss, I wait for green signal. Red and green lights are made for our safety, we should follow it. If I am driving, there is no chance of crossing the road in red light signal. I think driving/walking is as per signals is more safe. It depends also on the city crowd where we are living.

I used to do that but, I found that the city where I used to live had a lot of speeder's and car Chase's.. road rage is what they are referred too. Now that I'm in a new city I have chosen not walk against the red because i value my life. Even if there are no cars on the road I make it a habit to follow the rule of the road. Boy,.. I guess I'm some sort of good samaritan. Regardless of anything else, If I'm going to be late for a meet. I've chosen to never ever J-walk again!

When i was young and silly lady:) I risk to cross road in red light. Now , very rarely, if see that road is empty-no one car, and there are no risk and maybe I am hurry to bus and etc, i cross road even I see red light.
But never do this, If my daughter is with me. I will wait will light green, even my small girl ask to cross coz there are no one car. It's the rule I don't break. never.

If there are no cars in site for miles then I'll cross. I feel like an idiot just standing there when the road is deserted. If I have my kids with me though I'll always wait for the crossing signal...don't want to get them into the habit of crossing against the light.

In the past I have been guilty of crossing the road before the green light, but after a very narrow escape, I always wait now.

well if there is nobody if there is really nobody...cars, bike, motorbikes and so on...well I must admit I cross the road even though the pedestrian light is red...but I hate people crossing the road when the light is red and there are lots of cars waiting to speed up...I hate this because I cannot stand this attitude when I am a driver and I don't do this as a pedestrian because I am perfectly aware how frustated and angry car drivers can become when you do something like this!!!! as a general rule, I hate doing silly and dangerous things only to save some seconds....my life is worth waiting a minute or more!!!

as a law abiding citizen, one has to follow the rules of the pedestrian. if the light is red, one has to stop the car to give way for the people to cross the street. wait until the light becomes green and that's the time you go ahead. these are simple rules so it is expected of the drivers to follow what is right.

If the light is red and there are no cars approaching then I will cross the road but I wouldn't do it if I had children with me, as it would be a bad example to them. If the red light is on and it is not safe to cross the road, then I won't do it, even if I see other people doing it. When the green light comes on I will usually check to see that it is safe to cross the road because like you say, some motorists will drive through the green light.

I dont wait for the green light if there are no cars around, The green light doesnt last long anyways, i had some dude start driving as i was crossing the road because the green light stopped when i was halfway on one side of the road.

I live in a very small town so I rarely even look to see if the light is red or green. I just look to see if any cars are coming and if not, I cross. I really hate waiting for the traffic light to change when I am in a busier city. I am pretty impatient that way.

There are very few laws here in the UK about pedestrians crossing the road .. so we only need to use the red light system if it's a busy junction .. but if there is no traffic you can just cross over with no problem ..
Driving is completely different though .. it's mandatory to stop at a red light .. even if there is no traffic at all for miles ..

It depends on whether my kids are with me, as I would rather they cross when the little green man tells them it is ok. However, if it is just me and I think I can make it I go. If the kids are with me and we go against the light, it would only be if there is nobody anywhere near.
