Is AIDS a man made virus?

I met this morning with a Medicare representative to get some information for my boss. We started talking about prescriptions and I brought up a friend of mine that works for Pfizer and how he defends the cost of prescriptions. The gentleman I was meeting with said "no disrespect to your friend, but let me tell you about Pfizer", he went on to tall me that in the 1970's Pfizer came up with a drug to help hemophiliacs, and marketed it to blood banks. The blood banks started adding this drug to its supplies to help with clotting, etc...This drug also contained an ingredient (bear with me I'm trying to do more research on this)which caused HIV in the person receiving the transfusions body. This was not originally in the donated blood, but added as a type of "preservative" so to speak. This went on with the banks blodd supply until 1983, when more investigating was being done into AIDS by the US government. They contacted Pfizer and outlawed the use of the drug in the American blood supply. Here's the scary part...Pfizer is still selling this "additive" to countries such as China, Japan and India, knowing full well that their concoction contaminates the blood supply and causes HIV. Just becasue it is illegal here doesn't mean it can't be used there. I was horrifed, but not at all surprised because after all the pharmaceutical companies have always been about profit. In trying to look up more information on this I stumbled across an article about AIDS being man made. I am not big into conspiracy theories, and there is some information contained in the article that I don't agree with (AIDS from mosquito bites, etc..) but over all it made some sense. I'm posting the link, the article is lengthy, but I hope some of you will take the time to look at it and tell me what you think... http://www.onlinejournal.com/artman/publish/article_129.shtml

If HIV was caused by blood transfusion additives, why do people without transfusions get it? HIV isn't caused by anything, its a virus, its caught/spread. That is a conspiracy theory, and on the internet, you can find them on anything. Be skeptical.

I am skeptical, don't get me wrong. People that didn't have tranfusions get it because it is a contagious virus, and can be spread. All viruses had to start as something didn't they?

i do believe Aids is a man made virus, just like every other. Think about it, they don't want to keep us alive forever, they don't want us to live till they have to pay us for old age pensions and all that, they just don't, they've been trying to kill us off for years, this is just why they have made it illegal for a doctor to cure someone with herbal rather than medical treatments, this is why they have made it illegal for the actual cures to EVERYTHING Including aids, hepatitis, even friggen herpes (Eeew but it's true) I'll get the information about the doctor that was thrown in jail, and post it, it's sick... it really is. they wanna kill us all.

MrNiceGuy...I copioed this from a website on how stuff works and thought you might find it interesting..."Aspirin's roots are deep, and reach back to Hippocrates himself, the Greek father of modern medicine, who held the recipe for a pain reliever and fever reducer made from the bark and leaves of the willow tree. The key the Greek father of modern medicine held from sometime between 460 and 377 BC, was buried with him, and was not rediscovered until 1758 by an English clergyman." Please note "made from the bark and leaves of the willow tree". Aspirin has evolved, but am I wrong in thinking that it's original origins were HERBAL? I beleive this to be the case with a lot of modern medicines. By the way, the last remark to Spitfire about giving herself herpes, curing herself and getting back to us? Totally unnecessary, can we please try to keep this discussion on an adult level?

It so sad to think this scientific people are so immense into finding a cure but putting risk to the health of the people. I'm so interested to know what additive is at stake that is being mention. I just want to know because it maybe available here in our country and pity us if we be experiments of such disastrous manipulation of these big pharmaceutical companies.

I read the article your link was for. I'm not saying that AIDS was caused to containt he population, or the CIA came up with it or anything like that. But I do think it's plausible that AIDS is a man made disease. There have never been any other species besides man that have had this illness. If AIDS came from monkeys how come there is not a big effort to stop the spread of it in the monkey population? We can fight for a cure for humans all we want but if the virus is still out there what good will it do?

That is very plausible. A few of the other theories centre around chimps. When I was at school another kid told me it started when a guy got down with a chimp but the official theory is that someone was bitten by a chimp and this is the most widely believed theory. There is one theory that it was produced in an experiment to find a polio vaccine, that was prepared using chimpanzee kidney tissue. But in 2000 they got hold of some of the original vaccine and analyzed it and found that it wasn't SIV or HIV infected. But it's true you can't trust them vaccine companies, they are all about profit. They can really afford to give away much more to third world countries but no way will they do that.

Guess who's back, back again, 4ft's back...:) Geez have I missed you! There are more theories on how AIDS got started than Pfizer has pills. I think AIDS being man made makes sense, although I'm not too sure it was some big plot for germ warfare. If it was started by one man who was bitten by a chimp all I have to say is that guy must've really got around!

Well it is totally believeable to me that our government could do this. I don't know if it is true and I would have to see the actual documents that they are talking about. In particular I would like to see the one about the Hep B vaccines given to the gay men. If this is true they are destroying more than just the gay community.

i honestly wouldn't doubt it. they know some of the greater apes carry HIV without being affected-how'd it jump to humans? makes me wonder if they were experimenting on some poor lab ape and it got loose somehow.

I don't know AIDS well, but there are more and more AIDS petients on our world, of course , some of them are caused by some bad actions.you know, but there are lots of people , they are inculpable, they got AIDS via blood or their mother even their disloyal spouse. so , let's hand by hand, reject AIDS ,give earth a neat environment.

I am not surprised by this information about the pharmaceutical companies refusale to stop using a additive because it has potential/proven harm. I think it is a shame that this type of business is allowed. They make lots of money off of medications that are actually beneficial and I do not undersstand why they would risk so many people's lives in this manner. If they added it to the blood bank supplies then there is not a way for a potential recipient of a transfusion to be aware of this until after the fact....that really sucks. Thanks for this interesting discussion.

I know this is sort of off topic, but have you ever read or listened to the side effects of some medications? It's absolutely crazy, but if you really pay attention the companies sure cover their bases trying to ward off potential lawsuits.

Originally it was started from the animals, monkey. But now the man takes the volunteer to get the AIDS...by without preventing them...so nowadays 99%, it is man made virus...
