HI showmethecash and welcome to mylot if you are new. I use an alias on the Internet because it's safer. If I become really friends with someone for a long time and I see that we can trust each other then I can give my real name to the person.

Yes Im pretty new but I have been on here for almost a month now!! But I do the same thing as well, I use an alias initially and then I will when I feel comfortable with someone give out my name. Thanks for the post

Mylot is really the only place that I tend to interact with others to any degree, but I would not be likely to use my real name anyway. I see no danger or problem with the use of my real name, but it has always been considered good practice to avoid this.

the alias i use on this site is pretty simple to figure out what my original name is. it all depends on what sort of a website i am signing up for. one like this where it is more open to the community i would use one that i remember but is simple to figure. other more guilty like websites eg exploit forums and such i use one that you cant get my original name from.
