Myspace

I am a member of many different internet communities, And here I would like to discuss how myspace stacks up. Myspace is by far the most popular internet community, I find it is good to keep in touch with old school friends and family. I use the comment boxes often, and upload photo's only once and awhile. Once I had my page set up the way I wanted it, I don't mess with changing it that often. Now that the newness of it has worn off, I check it once a day, respond to comments and messages, and once a week, I'll send fresh comments to my top 16. I only subscribe to blogs from my friends on my top 16, and comment on them as they come available. I myself don't blog on myspace, I save that for my tagworld..lol. What do you do on myspace? What is your favorite part of myspace?

I'm like you, the newness of myspace has worn off so I only get on to check my messages and comments. I have enjoyed it for getting in touch with old friends from high school. And I like that it's a fast easy way of communication. I'm also a part of a few internet communities. I've been using mylot the most here lately . Myspace coming in second. And I very rarely log onto Facebook. I just can't get into Facebook for some reason.

Seeing as when I am online, Mylot takes up a lot of my free time these days. I still go to Myspace to check on friends and family, but it is a rare occurance now. I too use to be a part of several online communities, but as soon as the newness wore off, I have dropped many and only continually go to Myspace, since now that most of the friends I had made at other communities such as Friendster, Hi5, Tagworld, Cherrytap have all pretty much found me on Myspace.
Even though Myspace has it's fair share of problems, I find it to be one of the safest of the bunch and easiest to figure out and make your own.

MySpace has really just become the "800-pound gorilla" of social networks-- and it seems to suffer from all the attendant problems; specifically, because there are SO many people there, scam artists and spammers flock there to find the next sucker. It seems to me that once you get past age 25-30, MySpace becomes less and less interesting.
I do have a MySpace account because some friends talked me into it, and we stay in touch... but I really use it very little. I blog elsewhere (blogger and xanga) and use sites like tribe.net, zaadz.com and facebook as social networks, rather than MySpace... I get tired of all the spam, I get tired of the 14 friends requests this week all being from "chicks with webcams;" but it's nice to have access to a lot of esoteric bands-- so I guess that's my favorite part of it.

I totally agree with you, the bands are one of my favorite parts as well, I actually found a band that is doing really well that one of my girls from high school is the lead singer in. freaked me out. Its amazing what 12 years can do, and thanks to places like myspace you can reconnect with people you thought were lost forever!!lol

I like to use myspace for catching up with old friends. I also like to use it to keep my older inlaws informed with the blog. That way I don't have to write an e-mail to everyone, all I have to do is send them the link. It keeps my friends informed, and my family. Plus I like to keep my pictures there. Sometimes they mysteriously go missing (as in my husband throughs them out)

My space is such an addictive site with all the layouts that you can choose from. I use it to keep in touch with friends and family and to be honest in some ways it is the only way I can keep up with some family. I love it.
