Do you get irritated when a salesman knocks at your door?

There were some instances when a salesman of some sort of household electronic products knocked at my door early in the morning. It was around 8am and I was surprised how early these guys could be. I thought that it was the important package I've been waiting for days so I actually jumped out of bed and answered the door. And there they go, talking about how important and useful their product could be and how it's gonna make my house chores easier. I'm not a rude person, so I said politely that if they come back in a later hour, maybe I'd consider. But to my surprise, they insisted that I should get a demo to see how good their product is. After a few more minutes of conversation I suddenly got irritated and asked them to leave. But they didn't and they did not want to unless I try their product out. And so I did and they left after. Have you ever experienced this kind of thing? Do you get irritated when a salesman knocks at your door?

Yeah sometimes I do. They usually come when I'm in the middle of something important!!! But after they leave I feel bad that I might have sounded nasty. I really feel sorry for these people. If they've a choice I know they wouldn't do door to door. I feel really guilty right now remembering how unaccomodating I was to them. I'll try to be a little more nice next time.

As a matter of fact, I did feel the same way as you did when they left. They were just doing their job.

Out here where I live the only people we get selling stuff is the Schwans man, a man that sells meat, and kids that are selling stuff for school. I do get irritated with salesmen and people trying to talk me into stuff, but I try to remain calm because I actually feel bad since they are just trying to earn money and it's their job, But I do think it's irritating too!

I'd probably get irritated if they called early in the morning and woke me up, or late in the evening when I don't really feel comfortable opening the door to random callers, but other than that I usually just tell them I'm not interested in a good-natured manner and it doesn't bother me.

I usually do because it seems like when you let them know that you are not interested they just keep going on and on about why you should get whatever it is, how great it is, it only cost this much and they just are really irritating and now when they come I don't even open the door. I feel like they are disrupting peoples personal lives and if someone says no then they mean no so go somewhere else and leave them alone.
