First tell me what do you mean by PCOS condition. I do not understand the the meaning of this abbreviation. Unless I understand, how do I help you?
But you can practise Yoga and Pranayama.

i must say i am Glad to hear that you are feeling a bit better. I see that the pirate theme is back!
While I was in Disney World, I got a chance to ride the new revamped Pirates of the Carribean (sp?). It was really cool how they worked Captain Jack Sparrow into the ride. They even had a guy dressed up as him outside the ride giving tips on how to be a pirate. The kids seem to love that character!

Are you on a hormonal treatment? if you are and your under a docters treatment then from what I can tell you is that a low-carb diet(like atkins) and moderate excersize is the best way to go. Because PCOS can cause diabetes and heart disease
you'll want to stay away from anything to high impact.

If you can get back on Metformin, I recommend you do. A lot of PCOS patients do well on Weight Watchers, which you can do online if you aren't one for meetings. In addition, if you are hypoglycemic, try eating 6 or 7 small meals a day instead of 3 big ones. I've heard that recommendation from many doctors. The hardest part is making that many small meals in a nutritious and cost effective way.

My doctor prescribed to me metformin because im already a borderline diabetic. I've tried the atkins diet before (i did lose weight on that) but stopped (which led to my rapid weight gain which i suspect caused my PCOS). Im having a hard time dieting now because i tend to get hypoglycemic in the afternoon.

I actually gained weight on Weight Watchers - granted that was years ago. I did lose weight with tablets many years ago - back in the 70s - but I now know that they were amphetamines! Not suggested at all!
The only diet that worked for me was a controlled carbohydrate diet (the Carbohydrate Addicts Lifespan Plan). You can still eat carbs (unlike Atkins) but you control the amount and only eat them once a day - that also goes for fruit and anything other than green veggies. So two meals a day and snakcs are equal proportions of green evggies and proteins (meat, fish, eggs, cheese - don't overdo the cheese) One meal a day was equal portions of green veggies, protein and carbohydrate of your choice. This is when you can have your fruits, etc but you can eat cakes, chocolate, etc. It worked for me!! And I've kept it off for 5 years without being on the diet any longer.
Good luck!

I understand where you are cming from. It is rough. It is even harder when people who do not understand PCOS or what it can do to thyroids, mood, and metablisim will sit there and tell you how easy it is to loose weight through regular excersize, eating better, and other methods. Sadly, that is the way to do it. It is harder for women with PCOS so we have to work on our body image and mood just as much as our weight. I wish you all the luck in the world and I want you to know that a lot of women out there face the same problems you do. Hugs.

I have PCOS too and the only thing I have found to work for weight loss was a very low carb diet. I have made my own combination of Atkins, South Beach Diet, The Carb Addicts Diet, and Protein Power, using parts of each diet that work best for me. It has worked in the past but when I finally became pregnant, I put on pounds and alas, now I need to lose again.

It sounds like a lot of people are giving you simplistic answers. I have PCOS. A lot of people are on Metformin, and this helps them not gain any MORE weight. You don't have to be diabetics to take it. It doesn't help you lose weight, but keeps you from gaining. Also, the birth control Yasmin is good because it works to your hormones, which is what PCOS patients need. I'm not sexually active, but I take it for PCOS and it has helped.
Walking seems to be the most effective exercise overall, and the easiest for most. Stay away from sugar and trans fats. Try to drink only water. It's really hard, so I wish you the best of luck. There are online PCOS support groups you can joing that may give you more tips.

Dieting for women with PCOS seems to be about as varied as the women with it! I know that doesn't help much, but from what I have read on the web and in chats and stuff, you really have to find what works for you. Some may say "Eat less carbs" but if that's not what is bothering you, it isn't going to help much.
I'd suggest talking with your doctor, and perhaps a nutritionist. I went to a PCOS meeting in Denver, and there was a nutritionist who spoke. She explained that losing weight is a personal journey, and you have to fine tune the process.
For me, I went to the Healthy Choice website, and started their diet program. It didn't give me spectacular results, like 2 pounds a week, but it did give me results (4 pounds a month). Cutting out pop and adding in more teas and water seemed to help, as did making sure I was eating 3 meals a day. I'm a breakfast skipper, and apparently, that's bad for my body.
One of my friends cut out cane sugars and gluten products and has seen some weight loss. She's working with a food allergist, to find out what she's not supposed to have. I'm considering the same approach.
I wish there was a simple answer, but the real answer is that for you personally to lose weight, you'll have to try a bunch of theories and see what works for you. If you have to cut out carbs, then that's the way to go. However, if it's insulin resistance that's effecting you, then you'll have to deal with that. And it could be that it isn't just one thing. Talking with a professional about dieting and the things you can try is probably the first step to take.
