I am not opposted to taking a pay cut, under the right circumstances. if I could be compensated by other benefits or if there is a strong possibility of achieving promotions within the organization,I would be willing to negotiate.

Not for the same job, in the same workplace. If I've been there for quite a while, I would at least expect to maintain my current income AND get some benefits besides that. If I willingly transfer to another company with a lower pay, there must have been some other compelling reason other than the pay from the company where I came from. That is, if I were working for somebody else.

I would agree to take a pay decrease only and only if I'm in a good company where I'll be continuously learning new things, the the management is good enough to keep me though bad times. So, I'll be willing to stand up with company when it is having a tough time and has to decrease my pay. Otherwise no, I wouldn't take it.

I *MIGHT* be willing to negotiate as well... but these perks would have to be something very worthwhile if that were the case. Or maybe it's something I loved to do and didn't need the extra income (mind you, I am not going to undervalue myself, either)... I guess it would depend on the situation for me, but like I stated, I am not totally against the idea of it, it would just have to be a very significant reason and something that I could get through financially, I guess. There's always a place for discussion and negotiation.

I would as you said take a pay cut if it will be benefical for me down the line. I would take a job for less money then I make now if the new job has a better opportunity for me to grow & learn more then I wood if I stood at my current job. Getting the exposure, training,& education will only lead to me making more money in the future.

I am definately taking a pay cut for my profession living where I do, but the community here is to important to me to give it up. The beauty here in the land and the people is worth way more than anything one could try to compensate me in monetary value.

In fact, I had to take a pay cut about 6 years ago. From then on, I had a pay freeze for about 5 years. This was necessary due to the economic downturn in the Asian region. But, now the market is doing well and I decided to join a new company last year. I had a raise in my salary when I switched the company. Hope the market will remain good for the employees in the years to come. Thanks.

I am not doing job but my some friends do it and hearing about job situation from them I can say that if I work in a organization for long time and that was good in past and gave me some scope but at present their position is not good and like to decrease pay then I will accept. If without any reason pay decrease then I will think thrice where willing or not, but think not willing.

Well, I absolutely hate working, and wouldn't do it unless I needed the money - I would be more than happy at home all day(!), so I guess the answer is no, unless there were other perks to recompense for it. For example, giving e more holidays, or more flexible hours would be OK. Othewise, - no!

I would not be willing to take a pay decrease. Why should I? Unless there is very difficult to find the job. Nowadays lots of private companies only pay their employees' salaries, no bonus; pension scheme or other benefits. They make money but their employees. If you don't mind to get the pay decrease but with compensated by other benefits, in long term you still will loose the pay that you deserve. Because every company normally will increase the pay by percentage base on worker's basic salary; other benefits will not be counted. So I don't think it is worthy to make such decision unless the circumstances are definately reasonable.

If i am offered additional benefits what ever you say that indicates i should be offered a raise in my pay. I wont be accepting any cut in my pay scale.

Why should I take a pay decrease? In my opinoin, money is one thing, respect is another thing. If the company I am working in is in financial difficulty.I am willing to go through these hardships with my boss and collegues together, cos we are in the same boat.I mean, under this situation, everyone's pay should be equally cut off. If this is not the case, I will definitely not accept a salary cut.I can not accept my salary cut for no reason.

no.the jobs near me pay so badly as it is,that would put it in the "time to find a new job" bracket. they do not offer benefits, either.

I'd really not want to, but if I lost my job then I'd have to take what I could get next. Otherwise, I'd just do my best to find another that pays as well as what I'm getting now.
