Alarm over climate change not necessary.

Just recently in NEWSWEEK an article was published by a MIT Professor of Meteorology.
The gist of this article was that all the hullabalou concerning global warming is way over done. Not that there is no global warming. Not that mankind is not contributing somewhat. Just that it no way is a disaster in the making.
Here is the url for the story:

Who is more believable do you think? Al Gore or the MIT meteorologist?

Well red it's like this.... it is approaching mid August and we are still in the high 20's celcius down under!! The South Pole is still dropping ice like it were a vending machine... the dramatic high and low climatic changes all over are due to let me see.."don't worry about it factors"... It all reminds me of when the "powers to be" tell us that when TROUPS are deployed it will only be for a short deployment!! yea right!! And same to the professor..Yea Right!!

What the professor is saying is that, yes, there is some global warming going on. In the next 100 years, maybe the earth will heat up another degree, maybe the oceans will rise another 1 inch (maybe 2 centimeters). No big deal and there's nothing to be done about it, anyway.

That is what I was infering about the professor red, he is like Bush when he said the deployment of us troups wouldn't be a lengthy one, trying to minimise the situation, Gore may well be over estimating the consequences, but hey, I would rather err on the side of caution in this instance. And to say nothing can be done, well one word...BLAHHH.... doing things little by little has achieved wonders in many areas over time and I believe this is one of those areas which can do with changing bad industrial habits!

This is a plausable point red, however if the whole in the blanket gets to big, the one human kind ripped in it with their big toe... it doesn't matter about the fibers in the blanket anymore! The protection is gone where the whole is!
The bigger it gets the bigger the devastation! Unfortunately I can't resolve this aspect of the scenario.
The merit of this view is difficult to explain away.

I hate to say this but I think that one must look at the source of information as well as the information itself. Sadly I cannot really say I believe alot of what the U.S. media puts out there. It can also be said that for every theory available today there can always be found several scientists that agree and disagree with each side of the topic. The question then becomes the bias of the source.... I wonder who owns the media company that produces newsweek? Just my two cents..

Certainly, the source must be considered. Some sources are more biased than others. Newsweek has been accused of bias by some people.
That is why I don't take their word for things but evaluate the information. The information in this particular article is consistent with what else I've been able to learn from other sources. This information fits right in with the pattern of everything else. It is very believable to me.
In short, it makes sense.

Al Gore.It may be comforting. But one cannot deny the fact we are dirtying the atmosphere with obnoxious gases and litter our beautiful waters with filth.Whether it is going to kill us or not it is an irresponsible attitude to pollute the world.

Certainly, we should not pollute the world. Cutting back CO2 emissions is a fine idea that should be implemented.
However, that is not where people like myself disagree with Al Gore.
Al Gore strongly implied and insinuated that WE WILL ALL DIE, and soon if we did not listen to his advice.
Al Gore implied and insinuated that if we took his advice we would save the planet and reverse global warming.
These things are false. Al Gore is a liar trying to create a panic. His motive is money. Al Gore is one of the founders of a company that deals in "carbon credits". "Carbon credits" are slowly starting to be seen as a sham and a con.
Shame on Al Gore.

I don't know who to believe about global warming. There are so many scientists who are arguing over the "facts". But, I read a biography on Al Gore and I wouldn't believe anything he had to say about anything! He's been shown to be a liar in the past and I just don't trust him at all.

The facts are pretty much in agreement concerning global warming. It is going on. It is not severe in nature.
What the arguement is about is the projection and prediction of where the data is going in the future.
This certainly is open to disagreement and nobody really can prove what is going to happen in the future.
This leaves plenty of opportunity for people who enjoy argueing to do so.
That's what is going on.

I must protest! You have limited our choices to two and my response must be none of the above. My chosen canadiate would be the "IPCC" even though I do feel that their latest report is a bit overstated.

Actually, I have read the IPCC report summary for international leaders twice.
Most of what has been printed concerning that document, in my opinion, is reporter's misunderstandings of it.
The IPCC report is very much in agreement with the MIT professor. Just concentrate on the data and facts of the report and ignore the rest.
You are in for a surprise if you think this MIT professor and the IPCC are in actual disagreement.
