What will $10 buy you where you live?

I was curious as to how far $10 can go in certain areas of the world. Where I live, you can buy a large package of chicken, a pair of shoes at Walmart, 5 gallons of milk and two large packages of broccoli at Sam's Club, two packages of film, 1 month of dial-up internet, 3 gallons of gas, and a day at the SDSU ARC gym.
So, what can $10 get you in your part of the world?

Hello, desertdarlene,I think ten dollars menas nothign in australia,it may be just enough to have a lunch in a restuarant and may eb I have to pay extra for the drinks, may be i can still have few dollars left if I have a big mac meanl i nthe macdonalds though.
Few months ago, then dollars was not enough for one kilo of bananas, i cannot believe in this, but it was truth.

He he. I hang out over at Wetcanvas and they have a lot of people from Australia over there. One of the photography projects was to shoot a picture of a banana. The people from Australia and New Zealand went into a big discussion about the price of bananas there. All I can say is wow!

I live in the Mmidwest so the cost of living is not near as high as everywhere else. $10 can get me 4 gallons of gas,or 4 gallons of milk, or a haircut, or a new shirt at Target. :)

Cool. I used to live in Michigan and, yes, some things are a lot cheaper there.

You have to be talking about individual purchases all being $10 each, right? :) I wish all those things could be purchased for only $10. I know I can feed my family of four at the local burrito shop for $10, possibly by a gallon of milk, loaf of bread, small jar of peanut butter and jelly all for $10. Burritos sound better...:) If I'm lucky...I can buy a new shirt for $10, or a new pair of pants for $10. I remember when my kids were little I could purchase a weeks worth of meals for $10 at the grocery store. Not today...that's for sure.

$10 can buy me:
1. One beautiful top
2. 3 square meals for 2 days
3. It definitely cannot give me dial-up connection for even 1 week
4. Recharge my cell phone for 3 days
..... These are just estimates, may not be enough or be more than enough.

Wow, that's very interesting. Some of the things you mentioned are a lot cheaper than here, but others are not. I don't think I can get 3 squares and a nice top for $10 unless I buy the unhealthy food (well, I think I can, but most people can't). You might get a nice top for that price at a resale shop or thrift store. But, the cell phone charge only costs me pennies.

Wow, 1 month of dial-up internet for $10?! Here, where I work at (CNMI, US), dial-up internet is $25.00/month. So for $10 I can buy 1 10 lbs rice, or 5 cartons of Fruit Loops cereal, or 1 long distance card loaded with 55 minutes airtime which I use for calling my family back home, where $10 is equal to P480.00 which you can use to buy a lot of things.

Yes, there are a few companies that charge only $9.95 for internet. There was even a time when dial-up used to be free, but that was long ago.

We can get the coat and shoes at some of the discount places at that price. That's great that you can get a decent amount of food for that price.

here in my country philippines, that's about 480php..some would say it can buy a lot. but not much. with the high cost of living here, specially in the city. that can just eat up 2 ticket for a show (its 120php per pax) and a dinner for two at an average restaurant.

Here in EAStern Iowa, it would almost get you 3.78 gallons of gas. A haircut, 10 greeting cards (from the $1 store,) 2-5lb. bags of baby carrots, or 3-20 lb. bags of corn. you could also get 3-6 packs of Mt. Dew from WalMart. :)
Fun topic!!

Oh, I'm sorry, I can get each one for $10. He he, there's no way I can buy all that of $10. I hope I didn't confuse everyone. I wish there was an edit button.
At my local Sam's club, I usually pay about $2 a gallon, sometimes a little more. So, I can usually get five for that price. But, I usually get only one or two.
