My son didn't drop until I was in labor. When they first checked me he was way up high. I sat on the birthing ball for a long time trying to get that booger down. It was kind of scary because when he dropped, his heart rate crashed. After a bit it went back up thankfully, the doctors were getting knife happy lol.

I know you'll probably hate me for sharing but in my case my baby dropped in August, she was head down and my cervix was opening and I didn't have her until the end of October. I'm sure that's not normal and I left my job to relax at home so she wouldn't come that early. I had the pains and so much pressure unless I laid down. I wish you luck! Is this your first baby?

My son dropped on Christmas Eve. I could feel it. It was so weird. He was kicking my ribs one minute, the next minute I had really sharp cervix pain. I seriously thought I was getting ready to go into labor.
He was born on February 1. Starting the first week in January, the doctor kept telling me to make an appointment for the next week, but I surely wouldn't need it because he was going to be here anyday.
I couldn't eat anything for the last two weeks before he was born, because everything made me sick. The day he was born, I actually had a scheduled induction. It was two days before the due date, but the doctor was worried because I was losing weight.
I did go into labor the night before he was born, though. So for me, it was about five and a half weeks after he dropped before I went into labor.

It's going to be different for every mother & every baby. My son was engaged for at least 3 weeks before he was born, he was my third baby. Labor is on the way if you are 39 weeks, but on the way could be 3 hours or 3 weeks at this point. Best wishes for your birth :)

My Dr always commented that my baby had dropped coz my belly just suddenly sat a lot lower but i never went in to labour at all.
My due date was June 15th, i had a C Section on June 6th & even then my daughter had been in there for too long.
So i cant tell you coz if the Dr's were right & the baby dropped - then i guess my body wasn't going to be going in to labour at all.
Even after my baby was out - the midwives & nurses kept commenting on how unusual it was that my daughter arrived so late yet labour didn't come on!
Just keep an eye on things & make sure you have a phone handy for an ambulance if it happens :)
Good luck :)

My baby dropped at 34 weeks, I think they said she was at
-1 position if you know the term; and at 39 weeks they induced me. So to sum ti up, I waddled for 5 weeks.. good luck =)

I think everyone is different, I dropped and it was two weeks before I went into labor for my first one. The second one my water broke and shortly afterwards labor started, and the third my water broke before dropping so I had to walk around the hospital for a while.

I was already having contractions and sharp pelvic pains on the day i was supposed to give birth to my baby. But then i felt the timing was still inappropriate since we still did not have the money we were expecting to get then to pay for the hospital and i did not want my child to come out on the month of feb so in a way, i maanged the pain and the contractions, denying my unborn child from wanting to slip out of my womb (i felt then that if i sneezed or laughed too hard, my baby would come out of me). early the next day, me and my partner made the trip to the hospital, expecting that things would be smooth and easy for us. we thought it would just take me a few hours to deliver the baby bu then it took me 12 hours!

I hate to tell you, but with my second child I was engaged and the baby at stage two and 3 centimeters for two weeks before anything happened. I could hardly believe it. I thought with the second you pretty much go into labour once the baby's head is engaged, but no such luck!
