Abusing a child!

I came across a poem and i just had to publish it. I am not sure who wrote it, if it is someone famous or someone "unknown" but it just broke my heart..
The worst thing is that things like this happen everyday..
My name is Sarah
I am but three,
My eyes are swollen
I cannot see,
I must be stupid
I must be bad,
What else could have made
My daddy so mad?
I wish I were better
I wish I weren't ugly,
Then maybe my mommy
Would still want to hug me.
I can't speak at all
I can't do a wrong
Or else I'm locked up
All the day long.
When I awake I'm all alone
The house is dark
My folks aren't home.
When my mommy does come
I'll try and be nice,
So maybe I'll get just
One whipping tonight.
Don't make a sound!
I just heard a car
My daddy is back
From Charlie's Bar.
I hear him curse
My name he calls
I press myself
Against the wall.
I try and hide
From his evil eyes
I'm so afraid now
I'm starting to cry.
He finds me weeping
He shouts ugly words,
He says its my fault
That he suffers at work.
He slaps me and hits me
And yells at me more,
I finally get free
And I run for the door.
He's already locked it
And I start to bawl,
He takes me and throws me
Against the hard wall.
I fall to the floor
With my bones nearly broken,
And my daddy continues
With more bad words spoken.
"I'm sorry!", I scream
But its now much too late
His face has been twisted
Into unimaginable hate.
The hurt and the pain
Again and again
Oh please God, have mercy!
Oh please let it end!
And he finally stops
And heads for the door,
While I lay there motionless
Sprawled on the floor.
My name is Sarah
And I am but three,
Tonight my daddy
Murdered me.
I actually cried reading this coz it is so horrible...
Something needs to be done, to protect our children coz abuse is all around us...
Give me your point of wiev!!!

WOW I did cry at that one. That is so sad. That man should be done the same as he did her. All poems come from real life events well most of them. I think that if you really dont want your kid no need to kill or beat them just take them to the nearest hospital and leave them with someone there. Or just get your as* tied or cut off. That is nuts. Childrens services is a joke and a half. They take kids from good parents but leave kids to be killed with there parents. I think it should be a law if you hear or see someone abuse a kid that you can kick the crap out of them and not go to jail for it. But heck If I ever saw it I would be more then willing to go to jail to save a child as helpless as they are from being beaten.

Yeah, for the sake to save a child I am sure that i would also go to jail. I am sure that the judge would go easy on me as well!

How do you know that this poem came from a real life event? I'm a poet and have been writing poetry for 20 years. I will tell you that not all poetry is written from real life events and in this case it was obviously not written by a three year old.

i´ve never said that this is a true poem and that it is written by a three year old. However WHAT the poem is about is something that happenes everyday and this is such a strong poem to describe some of it!

This is a very sad poem but unfortunately reflects very well what happens all too often. It is so hard to understand how anyone could take a child they were first blessed with and abuse them so.
I have a daughter and son. I love them both very much but there is something about a daughter that is very special for a daddy. And for someone to do this to that special gift they have been given there is no just punishment.
The worse part is this is at the extreme. So many more ways that abuse goes on that does not harm the child physically but scars them mentally for life.
Raising children is no piece of cake. But first there should be no hard ever done.
While it’s easy to blame drinking for the anger that causes this it is far from the real reason. Men who do this are still children themselves in a grownup world they have no idea how to handle. So they somehow feel justified in beating the only people they have control over. Horrible.

I do not agree. I think that even abusing parents belive that they love their children and that it for them sometimes even is a way of showing them, how sick that sounds - but still i do belive that people abusing their children are sick!

I think that if you dont want your kids you should take them some where where or find someone that does wan them and give them to them. Anything is better for child then being some where they are not wanted. And as far as people abusing there kids because they were that is not true as I do not do that with my son and never would. It just all depends on if you really love your kids or not as to if you abuse them.

Although I DO NOT find it funny, I did find it amusing that I just read that same poem for the hundredth time because it was sent in a chainletter to my email. It's absolutely terrible that so many children have to go through things like that, and it breaks my heart that there's so little we can do because not all kids will tell people when they'ree being abused out of fear of being possibly killed. We just need to look out for children in our neighbourhoods (specifically 'cause you can't watch everyone). We need to look out for eachother. Don't dismiss anything if you have reason to believe someone's a victim of abuse.

Oh my! Oh my... that father is really heartless... I'm a mother of 2... a 5 and 2 yrs old... and I cant imagine my tiny angels xperiencing that kind of cruelty... I could have killed someone who do that to my angels... Im not against discipline... but discipline is far from cruelty... I wonder if there is no neighbor who shows some concern for that poor angel... Anyway... God gave merc on her already...:(

I've read this before and it's terrible how close to the truth this kind of suffering is.
This kind of abuse happens day in and day out, yet people who know about it are reluctant to get involved. They know that by calling child services they could be saving a life, but they hesitate anyway.
This poem cuts to the quick. As you say, something needs to be done, and done quickly.

This poem is a good eye opener to anyone, parents or guardians of the children at homes. I think there are a lot of agencies in every country worldwide that rallies for abused kids. Here in the philippines, our social welfare does everything to protect the rights of the child.

I simply refuse to understand why things like this happens, It is unacceptable. with all the child welfare and protection rules of society this things still happen, Perhaps what we need is parental guidance more than child protection.

That poem shows such sad truth about the lives of some misfortunate innocent souls. To be exposed to such hate and pain at such a young age by those who should love you and care for you is just so heartbreaking. I pray for those in that kind of situation. If only there was a way to rid the world of problems such as these.

OMG, what a beautiful ,yet sad and heartbreaking poem. I think they should have this poem posted in every maternity ward and doctors office in the country. It breaks my heart everytime I turn on the news and there is a story involving the abuse of a child. Thank you for sharing this, I'm going to copy it and put it on my refridgerator. I don't hit my kids, but I intend to look at it everytime they start driving me nuts!

i'm touch with that poem. it broke my heart, it is so sad.. if ever i saw a person doing that in a child, i'll probably call a police and get the man in jail.. we should love a child, not only a child but everyone around us.. we are only a human that need to be love just like everybody else.. and if i'm angry i don't blame it to other person, i know its my fault and there's nothing that i can do to take back of what had just happened.. all we can do is accept and learn in our mistakes.. :)

After reading this poem , I remembered a book I had reas last summer about a small girl who is hated by her mom and beaten up daily for little things and father is all but indifferent. The book was so terrible that I had cried so much after reading it. I do agree with all comments that child abusers should be punished really severly and not spared at all. They not only victimise the poor child but also pass on their hate and weiredness to other generation.
I really want all countries to agree on this issue that if a person is found to be abusing a kid at least child would be removed from his care and never given back. Do you see udging Amy prgramme that is one show I never miss, they teach you so much about abused kids and their psyche. do watch it if you get a chance.

This poem is tragic. There's no argument there. The fact is, in many instances, it's just an outright ugly world. however, no amount of laws can fix this. The only salvation for humanity is Love, and from that we shy...

Hi there. That is really sad =(. I don't know how people turn into monsters and end up abusing, hurting and killing their own child or anybody's child for that matter. When I see children and hear their laughs, I can't help but smile because they are too precious...to precious for anybody to hurt them or to at least make them cry. I hope that everybody become vigilant when it comes to their kids, neighbors' kids or just anybody's kids and be watchful of their parents or others strangers actions around them.
Lets help each other by closing our eyes to this.

Oh marie, I felt goose bumps while reading it. Its like I'm listening to a ghost recollecting her painful existence. I can't understand why abusive and murdering parents should be given children. This world is full of hatred and sickness. Compassion and love are getting rarer. I hope Sarah is now up to the Heaven smiling and knowing that there are still a lot of good parents. :/

Even before I ended reading the poem, my eyes were already welling up w/ tears and my heart crushed into pieces. The writer may or may not be a myth but it DOES happen. Sad thing is there are not only a few cases but there are actually thousands of children being abused worldwide, all of them in one way or another wondering if anybody can hear their scream. A lot of us are moved by this reality but most of us may not be able to reach for for all of them. The only way we can touch their lives is to pray for them.

A good poem that exactly description a child. so sad, he is not a good daddy, not a good man, not a good person, and if we really face a man like that, we should tell police to do something on him, we should not go to jail, it's not worth for a so worse man.
