My dog has never pottied in the house, much less on my couch. I don't know what is going on with him! He has totally gone askew on his potty schedule, he is drinking more water than I have ever seen him drink, his appetite is good, and that seems to be the only problem that we experience right now. Last night, I took him out to potty, then at 2:30 in the morning, my fiance had to take his friend to the airport, and he wanted out, he never goes out until 6:30 a.m. so, my fiance didn't take him out, we are trying to keep him on his schedule. I woke up this morning to find he peed on my couch. This is totally unusual for him! I have never had him do this! I am shocked. Then I went into my daughter bathroom and he tore into her garbage can, and he chewed up her panties this morning in the laundry room. Does anyone have any idea what is going on with him? All ideas are welcome!

I agree with Grandmaof2.... I think diabetes could be the culprit here. Of just a simple urinary tract infection (yes dogs get them). If its the second one then some simple antibiotics from your vet will help. He might be tearing up thing due to the frustration he is experiencing with any pain or discomfort. Also it could be thats hes just bored!

I know he is tearing up things due to frustration, because he is just tearing up my daughters things. I am definitely going to keep an eye on him for the next week until we get back and if it gets worse I am going to take him to the doctor while I am in Tampa, but if he is ok, I am just going to take him to the vet for a check up and make sure. Thanks for your help!

I was starting to get concerned maybe your dog had diabetes because of the extra drinking until I kept reading and because there seems to be some behavioural issues I'm wondering if you have left the dog for longer than usual, did someone scold him, is he punishing you for some reason ? We had a house dog that started with excessive drinking and in the end it was all about failing health, and he was getting to be a very old dog. He lived a good life we cared for him real well, but eventually we had to put him to sleep. Unless your dog is old and there is health issues, from reading this I think he's just having behavioural issues. I'm no expert mind you.

We have scolded him this weekend, he was chewing my daughters underwear and he tore up her bathroom this morning. He is very upset with her because she hasn't been paying that much attention to him as she normally does.He doesn't touch me or my fiance's things. My boyfriend will leave his slippers on the floor and he won't even bother with them. It is just directed at my daughter. I have an open top garbage can and he doesn't do anything, and my daughter has a closed lid can and he will put his paw on the lever and pop the top open and dig out all of her garbage and throw it around the bathroom! He is 7 years old, so we were thinking he is getting older and probably needs more potty breaks now. Also, he might be a bit bored. I have been sick so we haven't been going on our walks as normal. It is also warming up and maybe this is a combination of things. My boyfriend had to leave at 2:30 this morning to take a friend to the airport and Miko asked to go out and he was in a rush so he didn't let him out. He figured he would run upstairs and wake me up like he normally would, but he didn't. So, I think that is what happened. I told him if at all possible, just run a little late and take him out or wake me up. I do'nt want to go through that again, LOL. I am definitely going to take him for a check up when we get back from our trip.
