Do just read the first sentence and respond or do some of you read what ohter people are writing? I've noiced some of the responses have nothing to do with anything other than the first sentence of a discussion.

Personally, I read the whole discussion post before responding. As far as reading other peoples responses, I usually do after I post my response, that way my response is fresh off my mind after reading the post, and I don't have other people's words stuck in my head..lol

I have noticed that too. I try to read the whole thing before replying. Sometimes the lead words can be misleading or as in your case, mispelled. "pat" got my attention after I replied to another discussion. Sometimes, I have no idea what they replied too.

Some people just post as much as they can to up their post count and don't actually care about making the discussion work. I on the other hand am having trouble getting many posts because I always try and think about a reasoned response. Not to toot my own horn. I have writer's block here a lot too and find it a bit of a struggle. :(

Sorry, but I frankly get disgusted with the people who just read the first sentence, or even worse, just the title, and then post a response. Sometimes it is so apparent that it is almost funny when they are so far off the topic. It is, however, still maddening. I also read what some of the other people have said in their response because I don't want to say exactly the same thing as they have said in exactly the same way. The responses are probably going to be similar but every person should have their own original way of saying it.
