I think everyone have a different call for his family because of the culture.. Like me, I call my father "Papa / baba" , my mother "Mama" and my grandmother "Popo". These are from Chinese language. And I call my little sister and my little brother with their name. but, if I have a elder sister I will call "cici" from "cie cie (chinese language)"
Are you same like me? Or you just call their name?

i agree with you, we have different call for our family because were living in different country with different languages. me, i call my father "Papa", some are calling there father "Daddy, Tatay", my mother "Mama", some are calling there mother "Mommy, Nanay" and i call my sister and brother by their name. but they called me "Ate" as sign of respect as their older sister, "Kuya" if its older brother, "Bunso" if younger sibling.

I'm from the Philippines too. However, I call my mom and dad, Mommy and Daddy. But when we were teenagers, my sister and I started calling them "Momsie" and "Dadsie" because we thought it was a lot cuter. My sister calls me "Ate", the tagalog word for Elder sister and I call my eldest brother "Kuya" (older brother) but I have 3 other older brothers so I call them "Kuya (Brother's name)". My nephews and nieces call me "tita" (aunt). I thought elder sister in Chinese was "Achie"? Maybe what I heard was just a dialect. Anyways, good topic. Thanks.

This is a good topic, my friend. Let your good ideas roll. Well, in the Philippines, we commonly call our mother "nanay", "inay" or "mama". I prefer to call my mother mama because I find it very dearly and respectful. For my father, Filipinos usually them "tatay", "itay" or "papa". Like Mama, I prefer to call him papa because that's is so courteous I guess. My parents call each other "Jong". They say it means lover or sweetheart. I don't need to know the real meaning of the words. All I know is those are words to express my deep love and respect for them.
