I definitely consider my other half my best friend. I think friendship is a very essential thing in a relationship, and I think that in order for the relationship really to work for the rest of both of your lives, you really have to be each other's confidante.

Very true. I think romance won't sustain lifetime if there is no friendship as the background. Lifetime relationship is really a combination of both feelings.

My husband is definitely my best friend. There is no one I would rather sit and talk to, play games with, go out for coffee with etc. If I have something to share- he is the first person to come to mind. I probably don't share everything with him - there are some things that he doesn't need to hear - and that is what women friends are for.

I agree! There are somethings which could only be shared with a girlfriend, which make both the "partner" and the "girlfriend" very special and unique in different areas.

I have a unique story in that I was married to a great man for 4 years but we did not communicate or share things with each other and it eventually ended in divorce.
The good news is we have reconciled, and are now honest and forthcoming with each other and are best friends and it is working wonderfully. It is the relationship we always wished we had.
The feeling that you can share all your thoughts and feelings in a constructive manner wihtout being judged in like no other on earth.
So I would agree that my man is my best friend, honesty is the very best policy and will open channels in a relationship that you cannnot believe, and you are missing something if you don't form that!
Thanks for the great post!

I am glad that things are working out for you and your partner. It's really hard to keep things going if we don't know another person's thought. Knowing that we won't be judged by our beloved ones would surely make us more comfortable.

I consider myself really lucky, I have two best friends. My hubby and my girlfriend that has been my friend for 30years. I can share anything with either of them and know I won't be judged and they will be completely honest with me even if I am hurt by what they say. Friends are the best gifts you can give to yourself.

I love totally honest friends too, even sometimes they share their thoughts with me, which might hurt my feelings, I totally believe their good intentions behind.

Yes he is. I have women best friends too. But my husband of 42 years still ranks 1st.
