Do you prefer speakers or headphone when in front of your PC?

I've been using headphones for almost a year now. Before, i'd prefer using speakers so as not to strain my ears too much. But then, our television is just a few steps away from my computer that's why whenever someone's watching television, I couldn't use the speakers. So this headphone that i'm using right now was a requirement for one of my subjects which is digital sound editing, so I really had to buy it. But now, it's what I often use for listening music, video and sound editing. I just use our speakers for others to hear what i'm listening to or if no one's watching television. It's also good to use it coz' the sound is surround. But oftentimes, tv is the priority, hehe..;) What about you, which would you prefer?

There is nothing else in the computer room for the speakers to interfere with so I never even thought of headphones. When my kids are playing video games I am often telling them to turn down the speakers. I never even thought of headphones!

Hehe, lol.. well now's your chance! You don't have to shout to your kids anymore. But, the problem is.. they won't hear you if you're calling them, lol ;)

I have a great set of speakers that I prefer. My computer is in the den, so if someone is watching TV, I will use headphones, but that is seldom an issue. For the most part I leave the sound off on the computer unless I am listening to the radio or a CD. I despise going to sites and hearing music. I am especially angry if I am listening to online radio and someone's site has music that interferes. GRRRR.

I have to agree with you. That is very annoying and another reason I don't usually use the PC speakers. :)

I have a really good set of speakers which I use all the time. My office is far enough away from the tv that it never becomes an issue.

I have both my speakers and earphones connected (switchable) to my PC. So I just use whichever suits my fancy. Quite often, I pretend just complete silence (save for the typing of my keyboard).

Yes, it's much better if you can hear the effects and the dialogue clearly.

I like to use the speakers instead of headphones. The headphones are too hard on my ears. And I don't like the headphones we have here. We have the ones that sit inside of the ears and those are incomfortable to me

I can totally relate! I don't like earphones coz' it irritates my ears even only for half an hour. The headphones I got has good quality, and it's not the generic type coz' it's really used for pro sound editing ;) But sometimes I make sure I don't leave my speakekrs behind, hehe..

I have both speakers and headphone with my computer. But I always prefer to use speakers. At the same time I have to see that I am not disturbing others. So if my hubby is watching TV or doing something important, at that time I use my headphone so that he does not feel disturbed. In general I use headphone more.

It depends. If I am up from my computer, I use the speakers especially if I am listening to the music or an audio. However, I like classical and opera, and my husband does not, so I will use the headphones so not as to disturb him. I try to keep the volume low enough because for some reason the sound comes through -which is disturbing if there is one of those loud buy my product or else commercial on the internet.

Well, I'd prefer headphones cause I don't want to wake me granny up. Her room is next to my pc. Also, headphones drown out the background noise so I guess that's a plus when you're listening to music.
