You want another strange residence for a volcano? Try New York City. Smug New Yorkers who revel in California's frequent natural disasters should be reminded that we too are liable to get a few shakes of our own. For there is a long dormant fault running down the Hudson Valley, which gives off a wiggle from time to time as practice, perhaps for the "Big Show." Nonsense, you say, there is no Ring of Fire here! But there is - and the evidence is right in New York Harbor: Governor's Island. What seems to be a flat bit of rock, topped by a swanky Coast Guard station is actually the sleeping caldera of an admittedly tiny volcano, Mauna Guvna. The Coast Guard station is completely heated by geothermal means. http://www.echonyc.com/~jhhl/tnytrnw.html

Taal Volcano (as it's always been called) is considered to be the smallest active volcano in the world. This is one of the volcanoes being closely monitored by the Phivolcs due to its activity. You can check out www.phivolcs.dost.gov.ph for details on its recorded eruptions and other volcanoes in the Philippines.

Taal is often described as "a volcano in a lake and a lake in a volcano". It is a volcano since it has a crater from which lava and other volcanic debris erupted some time when we weren't born yet. I've seen it, and the view from the mouth of the crater is fascinating. You could even see geysers on the side of the crater spewing hot gas.

Mount Taal is a volcano. It is a part of chain of volcanoes along the western side of Luzon, all formed by the subduction of the Eurasian Plate underneath the Philippine mobile belt. There have been recorded eruptions at Taal since 1572 so it is a volcano.

Mt. Taal or as many call it Taal Volcano is the VOLCANO island inside Lake Taal which is a CALDERA, a caldera in turn is a depression formed by a catastrophic eruption and collapse of again another volcano pretty much like the lake in Pinatubo. there are many calderas in the philippines in fact it is a part of the chain of volcanoes called the pacific ring of fire which means we have many volcanoes. There is high probability that the mountain near you is a VOLCANO!
