I've been on leave from work for around a week now and I'm about to go insane. I think I've cleaned just about everything possible in the house and I've even started baking (totally out of character for me). Does anyone have any ideas/suggestions regarding what I can do to keep me busy while waiting for baby to come?

Hi elemental 13, we are the same. I have been on maternity leave for a week too, and I also don't know what to do and bored. My friends suggest that I have to do a lot of excersise, like walking and it will help the labour. So, I try to walk to the park, near my house or go window shopping.

Well dangit! It's okay to be bored. You are not going to get much relaxation or even sleep once the baby comes. You should take the time to rest up for all the work you have ahead of you once your baby is born. You need this time to rest. Take advantage of it!

What you are doing is nesting!
It's totally natural, you are getting everything ready in time for your baby, by cleaning you are preparing the nest and by baking you are proving to yourself that you are able to provide your baby food.
I went through this same phase when I was pregnant with my son. Trust me once he's here you probably wont be do much of these things

I found myself sleeping a lot before my daughter was born, i didn't nest at all & i took up pen palling throught he mail & via e-mail.
Even though a few people have said you wont have much time to yourself once the baby arrive, well, it's really not entirely true! Babies sleep for like 20 hours a day - so that's a lot of time for you to have to find other things to do - not including napping coz that's a must!
You could try Scrapbooking, it seems to be getting very popular, maybe card making or other crafty things. I spent my time writing letters, reading, i bought myself some new movies to watch, i eBayed for my daughter:) HIGHLY ADDICTIVE & all sorts of other little things!
Good luck with your boredom!:)

start a scrapbook I'm sure you have the ultrasound pictures already or start writing in a journal what you are going through. I wish I would of done this when I was put on bedrest for my daughter.
