Disney characters copyrights and patents?????

Hi there, I was wondering if anyone knew anything about copyrights and patents of Disney. I had this great idea today. I'm going to become an actress and I love acting. I want to sew or buy a custom that looks like mickey mouse, donald duck or something like that and go to birthdays, carnivals and get paid to be those characters and talk to kids or something. Then I started wondering. Does Disney have very strong copyrights and some laws that will forbid me to do this. Would it be illegal??? Hoping to hear from you.
