Hello, everyone! This is my very first post. I hope it's okay that I chose to place it the general forum.
I'm not a stranger to the whole message board thing, but I have never been paid to use one! I must admit, I was taken aback when my friend referred me here. I was just wondering whether or not some of the more experienced posters among you might be able to give me a few kinds words of advice. I've read the various FAQs that myLot provides, but would feel much more comfortable hearing what fellow community members have to say.
Now, if only I could find out how to upload an avatar . . .
At any rate, I hope my first post wasn't too dull. I apologize if it was.

Ive heard all kinds of theories. Some say do long, thoughtful posts. Others say responses are better. SOme say starting is better. The earnig scale here is somehting of an enigma. they simply dont disclose how the pay per post. I found tht just mixxing up you topic choices is pretty good. Lots of pots in different types of threads. Youll be a few weeks getting the right formula but once you do its worth it. One gal yesterday said she earned over 4 bucks in one day.

Thank you for the reply, xfahctor! Wow, you are fast. :)
If it's possible to earn $4.00 in one day, I wonder how much money I would have earned if I was paid for all of the thousands of posts that I've contributed to other forums. I shudder to think! *laugh*

Obviously you've made other posts already, since I replied to two of them, but I wanted to come here and say "Welcome to mylot" anyway!
I think you're doing a good job already actually. I look forward to hearing more from you! I think the best advice I can give is to have fun, post about things that really interest you, and the money/reputation stuff will just kind of follow. =)

Quite true! I've made some wonderful friends in mylot so far! I've been here since January, and since then it's been far more fun and interesting than other message boards I've posted on. I think one of the things I like is being able to talk about all my various interests (religion, parenting, anime, books, whatever) in one place, instead of being on a board dedicated to one topic where everything else goes under "off-topic".

HI elizabeth, Welcome to Mylot. I hope you will enjoy here. This is such a nice community.
To earn good you have to post good quality of posts. Make some friends and post quality responses. Try to post discussions under interest catagory, that helps your discussion to show up longer and with more other discussions and that way you can get more responses.
Do't post one liner response, most of the time you will not get paid for that. Good Luck!

As far as I can tell most people on here like a variety of topics so you don't have to worry about that part. But they don't like one liner. (What color is your hair) they like to hear about your interests or some news article that you have an opinion on. Theres not really any certain lenght. But they will respond more to something that has a variety of ways that people might think or feel. Politics gets pretty vocal as you can imagine with everybody having a view. But basically write about anything that interest you and see what happens. You'll get used to writing and people will answer. Don't worry about it. Tammy

Oh, my! Do people really ask such silly questions? I would just as soon ignore them, but to each their own, right? Tell me something, is it okay to provide people with URLs to other sites? For instance, I was just telling someone about a book that I'd like them to read and I wanted to direct them to amazon.com where they could buy it, but I didn't want to break any rules.

You're welcome, Woodpigeon--and thank you, too! Nice avatar, by the way, my father used to have a pigeon coop in the back yard and he's always talking about how much fun it was to care for them. It brings back memories. :)

Welcome aboard. You will enjoy it here. The people are friendly. I suggest you post quality ones as your posts are being ranked. The better your posts are, the higher your rank. You can start discussions also everyday. Your rate per post is higher if they are quality ones.

Welcome to myLot. It's great to see new folks. I have been on myLot since the end of October, and love it here. There are some really good people...there are some you have to watch out for too, as in any site, lol. My best advice to you is not to spam the boards, to build a network of good friends that will help you along the way, to always post quality over quanity or lack of quanity. Try to avoid discussions that you know will be deleted, like those that are spam. But my most important advice is to be yourself and have fun. Happy posting and if I can help you in any way, let me know.

Hello, creativedreamweaver! Thank you for the kind words. I love your name as it reminds me of my favourite HTML editor (yes, I rank among the multitude of out-of-work website designers), Macromedia Dreamweaver!
Speaking of spam, I see what you mean. I have been wading through the various discussions that have turned up in my first few searches and I have found tons of one-liners that are barely intelligible. Yikes! I suppose everyone has an angle, eh? *grins*
