Would talking to plants help?

I read on the paper that some people talk to plants. They say it forms some kind of bond and helps the plants grow and stay healthy. What is your opinion? Does it work for you? Do you notice any difference if you don't talk to your plants for a week or so?

I don't believe talking to your plants is going to help them grow one way or the other. It's a nice thought, and a sweet thought, I just don't think it would actually work. It is probably better for the gardener than the plant.

I think I agree with you on this. It gives the gardener a lot more satisfaction than the plant. Sometimes I wonder what I would do if the plant would answer me.

Do you have names for every single plant you have? I just give them group names. My memory is not that good so I'm sure I'll get them all mixed up if I have to give them all names. Adding name tags could be an answer. lol.

It may be true because the carbon dioxide Co2 that we give off when we breath and talk is good for plants.

Gloxinia, Hoya and Bromeliad - Three of my plants
I am glad this site is anonymous because I would not like my friends to know that I do talk to my plants especially when there is a new bud or offshoot. Take a look at my photo and see if you think they look pretty healthy? Photo: Left Gloxinia, Right Hoya, Bottom Bromeliad

I have read more than one article that says that talking to your plants is good. My mom talked to her plants and her plants were absolutely beautiful. I also talk to my plants and they always do great. Some people think you are crazy if you talk to your plants but you are not. I went out to talk to my plants one evening and my husband made the comment oh you were talking to your plants again. I am the kind of person if I don't understand something I don't cut it down. No one knows if this works or not. All I know is my mom's plants looked great and my plants always looked great. I was gone for about a week and my plants looked very droopy and with a little life. I don't talk to them like I would another person. I make comments to them about how good they are doing. Are that they are so pretty. So yes I do talk to my plants. Call me crazy if you want but I think it does the plants good.

Prince Charles talk to his plants. He is said to have green hands. From what you've said, it seems there is a relationship between talking to plants and its health. Does the plant perhaps sense if the person is being sincere? After all they are also living things.

This is something that i have been doing ever since growing my first garden as a child. I used to promise my plants so-called treats for them to grow faster! But the fact is, it does work for me. I find that touching my plants, telling them how pretty they look does create a difference. Maybe it's just in my mind but who cares! I love my plants and i'll continue telling them so.

I think if I come back in another life as a plant I would like to be your plant. They seem to get a lot of care and attention.
