I won a manicure as a prise at Christmas, I have always wanted a manicure but had never had one, I do my own nails and only ever have a clear polish as I think I look really tarty with a strong colour ( being of a mature age lol )well anyway I never heard any more about it until a couple of weeks ago when I received an email to make my appointment, Its my birthday on Monday 16th April, an we are going out for a meal, Hubby and me, Ross my youngest son and Mum and Dad my other sons and wives and my grand children will be in during the day but won't be able to go for a meal with us, The young girl came today and my hands are looking so nice, She did a french manicure with the white tips and I feel oh!! so posh and glamorous lol, I just feel so spoiled, hubby says I have to treat myself to this again as it made me feel so good, She gave me a price list for waxing too lol but no way will I do that ouch!!!! I might have my eye brows done next time though ( lets all go mad lol ) she does manicure and waxing and facials for me too and why not!!, have any of you had this done? and did it make you feel special too?

Nope, not me. I am a guy and if you are not gay, you typically need a girlfriend to drag you for a manicure.
I just cut my nails myself when they are long and that's it. :P

it does not follow that when a man had his nails done by a professional manicurist that he is gay. nowadays, many men are doing it. i tried it once and can't afford to do it again because the charge or payment is quite expensive. i'd rather have my partner do it for me instead.

The most luxurious thing I have had done was an hour massage. My husband gave me a gift certificate for one one year for Mother's Day. It took me until around my birthday in August to get up the nerve to do it. Boy, was I ever surprised when my massage therapist was a guy. It went really well, he and I talked a lot, and I would do it again in a heartbeat if I had the money. I think I would really enjoy a manicure and the french manicure sounds perfect for you. You had it done at home, how nice! Wishing you a happy birthday this week.

Happy Birthday Wemam, I am trying to catch up as fast as I can, and in a few months I will be right along side of you, Your nails look lovely and I too have always wanted a manicure, of course I can not afford it right now and when I was making money being a cook I would never bother as with in a half a shift if would have been ruined, but I think for my 65 I will ask my daughter for one, she never know what to get me as I basically need every thing lol. There is a lady I used to volunteer with that is a cancer survivor and she said that if she lived she was going to pamper herself ,and she does at least once amonth she goes to the spa and never spends less that 400-500- for facials body scrubs haircuts etc. I used to pay $6.88 to get my hair cut at the teaching salon and feel bad, I haven't had my hair cut since December and every one is shocked as I have very wavy hair and I normally get it cut to about an inch long,I look sort of like the war refugees in the concentration camps pictures, but I don't have to bother with it. I haven't had my hair this long since I was 18 when I had hair down to my backside. and my mother said if I wore it in a pony tail one more time she was going to take the scissors to me. I beat her to it I went out and got a pixie cut, and never grew my hair Long again. I hope you have the best birthday ever, and enjoy your special day with your family. I bet you will be so excited.

yes, i do it, not often though. lemme tell you wee, it feels great. after a long cleansing, trimmimg, scraping and bathing and moisturising no way you can't. LOL
i donot wear nail polish, only go for nail gloss which i apply at home.
you should go for it and its worth to pamper in indulgent hands and feet. i would recommend pedicure aswell.

Well good for you. I love manicures. I used to get my nails done all the time, usually about every 2 weeks. I had the fiberglass tips put on mine, and I absolutely loved it. I just felt as if my hands looked so much better and prettier. But at one point, when I was at work, I ended up hitting the tips of 2 of my nails really hard and they lifted off of my own nails (OUCH!). I glued them back down which turned out to be a big mistake, because not only did water get under one of the nails causing mold to build up underneath the tips (I know, YUCK!), but come to find out that my own nails had both torn across the middle. The tips had to be removed, and I eventually lost both nails. They're grown back now, but the one on the index finger of my left hand has a deep groove that runs from the cuticle to the tip, so now I can't use the tips anymore. I have a friend that does nails that forms them with gel/acrylic and no tips, but I haven't been brave enough to give it a try. And I so miss my nails!

Hi, I just want to start off by saying you're never to old to have a strong colour on your nails! I have manicures quite regularly as have false nails put on now and again because mine just wont grow. I did have pedicure a few weeks ago and that was the first one I've had done, it was really nice and they massage your feet and put special oils on them. Yes it does make you feel a whole lot better and about yourself.

Here in the Philippines, it is cheap to get salon/spa services that's why a lot of people can afford to have their nails, facials, massages done. I have my toenails pedicured at least once or twice a month. I get facials and body massage once every 2months, and hot oil or hairspa once a month. Pedicure and manicure rates start at $1.50 to $4 while maasages and spa treatments m once you start, you can't stop that's why i see to it that i go to the salon or spa once or twice a month.

sorry, my response is quite incomplete. Here is the correct line following manicure and pedicure rates.....while massages and spa treatments range from $6 to $100 depending on the works/package that you choose to be done on you. Love the feeling of being pampered, once you start, you can't stop that's why i see to it that i go to the salon once or twice a month.

Congrats, you´re a lucky girl. I´ve never won a manicure and never had one done either. I do my nails on my own, (lack of funds) they don´t look as good as yours, but not too bad either.
French manicure gives your hands this elegant look, doesn´t it? Anyway I´m glad you´re happy with it, you certainly deserve a treat for your birthday. 16th of April: so your starsign is Aries. That explains the huge amount of energy you´ve got. I guess I´ll talk to you here before the day after tomorrow, but just in case I don´t: "Happy Bithday to you" and have a great day!

I think they look beautiful weemam! I also think that you have the hands of a mother. They look soft and full of love! I agree with your hubby if it makes you that happy you should do it again. I have never had a professional manicure but I would like to, maybe someday.

It is a wonderful feeling isn't it wee? You really deserve this so keep it up - and 35 isn't that mature! I have had manicures, pedicures, facials, waxing etc and it does make you feel good - when I feel better I thin I will start getting something done again every month! xxx

It's nice to be pampered every once in a while so even though I don't go regularly I will treat myself now and again to a manicure and pedicure. It's forced relaxaion for me as I sit in the chair and let others do the work. It's money well spent if it gives you a break and puts you in a better frame of mind and anyone who lives with you benefits from that. Have fun!
