I haven't had medical insurance since they dropped my daughter when she was nine months old. They sent me a letter to inform me that she had maxed out her limit and that she would no longer be covered. This was one month before her open heart surgery. No other insurance company wants to cover her so we are always denied when we apply.

We don't have any insurance of any kind . It does bother me when I give it some thought but I just don't see any way that we could swing it .
I would love to be able to have medical but this does not help with any pre - existing conditions and it would cost me more then I am paying now , which is way too much .
It would be a good idea to start all of our children when they are younger so that they could carry it with as they grow older so it would not cost them so much and then they wouldn't have to worry about pre - existing conditions .
I saw how it affected my mom when she lost her boyfriend and he had no insurance either and it shows that we all should have it , but they make it so expensive as you get older that one simply can't afford it unless they are well off to begin with .

I feel for you and your family as we are in the same position.
To get insurance would take almost 1/3 of my late husbands disability check...that doesn't leave much left for anything else.
HOpefully, we will get some type of state or national health insurance....at least discounted health care.
Thank you for your response and God Bless!

Both me and my family members have health insurance and the payment towards insurance bills are paid by us individually.
Not only that we have our family insurance, I have advised almost everyone I know to take health insurance policy.

We will Blue Cross which my husband's company offered to him after he officially retires and he takes his holiday. Unfortunately our Dental insurance will run out after get those three crowns done. So I'll probably have to pay that with part of my Old Age Pension which does not come until next year and I have cavity prone teeth, and various gaps in my mouth.

We are one of those familes also who cannot afford to buy health insurance. My husbands employer pays for his but my daughter and I do not have any. It will cost us almost $700.00 a month to carry insurance through my husbands employer. I have looked around but all insurance is outragious. I have thought about moving to Canada so the government can help assist on these costs. I cannot believe the United States lets so many working families go without insurance. It is rediculous. I stay worried about if something happens to me or my daughter. We will probably lose everything we own from the medical bills. We cannot afford to pay that much money every month. It is hard enough to just pay the bills and eat.

I am provided with health insurance through my job. Sure, it takes a pretty big chunk out of each paycheck, but since I go to the doctor's so often, I really need to have it. I'm sure that if I didn't have health insurance the monthly amount of money I need to pay for my prescriptions would put me in debt.
I went for a little amount of time with no insurance and it was really quite frightening. Each time I felt ill, I had to stop and seriusly think about how much risk I was willing to take, Was I sick enough to justify such an expensive bill? But then, if I didn't go the the doctor, could I be setting myself up to only get worse and put myself in some more serious danger. My heart goes out to you because I know how scary it can be.
My state right now is considering a bill that will require everyone to have health insurance. This means that all jobs will be required to provide access to health insurance or that you will be able to get it for the state. Some people are very upset about it because some smaller businesses can't afford to provide it, and others are worried about their taxes going up to help pay for people who can't afford it themselve. I personally think that everyone should have health insurance. So I hope the state finds a way to make it work for everybody.

YOu are very fortunate to have this ability.
I too am hoping that we can get some kind of state or national health care coverage.
Doctors costs are out of the roof. I truly believe that if the doctors would decrease their costs, insurance rates would go down, and average citizens could afford to take out health insurance policies.
Thanks for your response!

Most of our heath needs are provided by the government, we even get free prescriptions because we live in Wales. However I do have an extra small plan that pays half of any opticians and dental treatments back, that is very helpful but if we didnt have that I wouldnt worry too much.

Yes. I am form the Philippines and the health insurance provided by the government is Philhealth. You are only required to pay 100 pesos or 2 dollars a month. It is very low but other people really can't afford it because of low income. This philhealth insurance covers the whole family for $2. Not bad. But the downside of it is it it pays for a certain amount and not all;. goodluck!

Yes our health insurance is thru my husbands work, the Air Force/Government. It's tricare prime and has some downfalls but there are no copays for us, and as far as I know its free (no premiums). We also have dental, which isnt the greatest, but its also thru the military-united concordia. It's okay, but they only pay like 50% of bills and there's a cap to how much you can use and what not. And we pay $28 a month for the entire family to be covered under that. If I didnt have it I would really worry. I know my kids go to the doctor alot , and I dont know how I would be able to afford all those payments, they would reallly add up.
