Many people say that a person's penmanship is a reflection of his personality - a good penmanship allegedly corresponds to a good character and a bad penmanship means otherwise.
What can you say about this??
How's your penmanship??
Do you think it really reflects your persona??
Please share your insights...

There are a lot of people who can read handwriting and penmenship and be able to tell a lot of character traits... but I don't know if there is necessarily a direct connectiong between bad writing and bad character... or vice versa.
As fas ar my handwriting goes, it varies for me. I can write very neatly, but I can also basically be writing in chicken scratch. It actually depends on my writing tool... I write much more neatly with a pencil than with a pen... it's just weird like that.

There indeed are many people who 'analyze' handwritings and I believe they call themselves graphologists. I have tried a free graphology handwriting analysis through the net and I must say there are good matches between their interpretation of my penmanship and my real persona. I guess you could also give it a try. You may find it in:

I have excellent penmanship. But I in no way think it reveals if a person has bad character or good character. Sure, it can reveal traits of a person, but not their character. My dad has horrid penmanship and he is the finest man I know.

Everyone says I have good handwriting and always wants me to write things for them. Mine is not as fancy as some other I have seen. Don't know if I have ever heard that it reflects your personality but could be true. I used have better writing but seem to always get in a hurry so not as nice sometimes as others. My husband writing is terrible. Can't hardly read sometimes. So how do you know what your personality is to be by writing? Just curious.

My penmanship is horrible, I write like a little kid. Its horrible. I think I have one of those doctors kind of handwriting. The kind that's just so sloppy that even the person who wrote it can't even see. I stick to typing on the computer more often then writing with my pen or pencil. I'm not sure if it really reflects who I am, because I'm obviously no doctor, nor do I think like one. I'm and average joe, with a doctor's handwriting.

I'm not sure how true this is any more, for the simple reason that many children now do most of their work on the computer and have never had a chance to develop an individual style of handwriting. My handwriting is very different to my husbands, but then when we were at school computers were very new and not in the classrooms or at home, the kids I work with today are far happier typing their homework than they are to write it.

It is false that a good penmanship could actually be reflection of a good personality. However, it is true also that a penmanship is a reflection of a person's personality or way of thinking or natural inclination. A penmanship could actually show a person's moods and drive. A penmanship with lots of sharp angles could mean that a person is intelligent or moody. A pretty rounded, short and neat handwriting could mean that a person has low self-esteem and not very agressive yet friendly. Don't judge a person by how it's handwriting looks eathetically. It needs a deeper or closer look for one to gauge ones personality.

Your handwriting is just as much a part of your identity as your physical appearance, the sounds you make, and the texture of your skin. Handwriting analysis provides a system for the organization and formation of various character traits into a unified description of a personality. The fact that there are so many easily identifiable features in handwriting makes it an ideal representational system for a personality.
Handwriting can say much more about a person than a thousand well-chosen words. Every time we write, whether it's a letter, or just a scribbled note on a scrap of paper, we are betraying our inner selves in a variety of ways.It is not what is written, but how the letters are formed. Handwriting can be more informative than any biography, and is almost always more revealing. It can say things about the writer of which even they are blissfully unaware.Writing is a habit. We do not have to think very hard to transform thoughts from our heads into words on a piece of paper. But although this act is nearly automatic, considerable demand is made of the brain and muscles. Because the body takes control of the writing process, it can say things our brains may not be consciously aware of.
From the early attempts at writing as a child, when each letter was slowly and painfully printed out, through endless practise the ability to write becomes increasingly effortless. With maturity, factors such as personality and even health begin to take more influence on the character of the handwriting than the early classroom-taught methods. The result is a unique style of handwriting that distinguishes each individual like a fingerprint.
Many muscles are used to produce a piece of writing, some quite large, others as fine as a cat's whisker. These twenty or so muscles must function in synchrony to write effectively. Any tremor, caused by temporary or long term stress, anxiety, illness or disease will manifest itself in the form of unintentional strokes or jerks of the pen. Letter formation itself, and even the amount of pressure used, can reveal many things about the writer. It is these disturbances in the electrical signals from the brain to the writing muscles, and the way each individual writer has put there own identity stamp on their handwriting that helps the experienced graphonomist gain so much insight into their personality.
Whether your interest in handwriting analysis is personal or professional, the information provided will be an invaluable insight into the inner personality and emotions of the subject.
My handwriting is not really good as I sometimes scribble when I have to rush and it may be hard for other people to understand what I am writing, but if I can write quite well if I am not scibbling,I write words in a neat and tidy way which seems reflect my personality quite well.

actually they say bad penmanship characterizes intelligence. Some of the most intelligent people in the world have very bad penmanship. Think about doctors for example. Some of the worst handwriting you will ever see is from a doctor. And bubbly, very neat writing is usually seen from teenage girls. I can't remember where I saw the article at, but there was one that studied 100 people, right down to IQ level and penmanship. If I can remember, I'll post it here for you.

I really think you have a very cute observation about doctors and teenage girls and I think they're all exact. I really hope you could someday share the link where you saw that article that you were saying - I think that's gonna be very interesting.

I couldn't find the exact article but here is an excerpt from another one:
Could My Child Be Gifted?
http://64.233.167.104/search?q=cache:_A930ybkpDkJ:www.smartkidathome.com/notes/Could%2520My%2520Child%2520Be%2520Gifted%25202002.pdf+bad+handwriting+means+intelligent&hl=en&ct=clnk&cd=59&gl=us
Because many gifted children, especially high IQ children, hate to write, • Sloppy handwriting is not a sign of laziness • Some young gifted children enjoy practicing lovely handwriting as an art form, but develop bad handwriting once writing is used as a means of communication

There may be some aspects of persnality that can be drawn from handwriting, but I don't think it indicates whether I'm of good character or not.
If it does, then according to my handwriting I'm a totally nasty piece of work - which isn't the case!
My handwriting is poor - mainly because I was forced to use my right hand when at school and I was originally a 'left hander'. After being forced to swap over my writing became very untidy.

is it really the basis of ones personality?? well, my penmanship differs in my mood. when im relaxed or not in a hurry, i write good. and when the other way around, its not so good. does it say that im moody? because i know i am. and also, sometimes, i think my hand writing can't be understood but when i ask someone about it, they'll tell me it's actually good hand writing. which is which? haha. does it tell im a fickle minded person? can't decide. actually it's also a truth..

I'm not certain about that too [if it is indeed a good basis of one's personality] but I guess there are good reasons to think that it's true.
Maybe you should just consult an actual graphologist if you could see one or you may go to www.truthstar.com to take a test and see if their results match with your real persona.

Eh, could be. It's possible for me to write neatly but I find that method painstakingly slow. I much prefer my the mix of scrawling, calligraphy and chicken scratch I've devised over the years. Pain in the neck for anyone who tries to read it but to me it's usually perfectly legible. Been told on occasion that it looks nice but I don't quite believe that.
I don't think how you write has anything to do with your character or personality though. It's far too easy for anyone to write pretty if they actually bothered.

Well, it depends on how quickly that I am trying to write something down. There are days that I could certainly pass for a doctors prescription handwriting...smile.
When I am filling out forms or paperwork, I try to be extra cautious, and even use printed block letters rather than script.

Others like my penmanship so I guess my handwriting is fie and so does my attitude. I don't really believe that your handwriting reflects your persona. Cause I know of people who have very good handwriting but have really bad attitude.

I do believe in the art of reading someone's handwriting to tell things about their character. I have been around many handwriting analysts that have proven it to be a valid practice. But I don't know that I believe the direct correlation that bad handwriting means bad character and visa versa.
I even sent my writing off to a company that has made an exact science out of it. What they wrote back about me was nearly 100% accurate.

So I see that you have in a way believed that graphology is a real science - there are people who dont consider graphology a science because for them, it's not very different from fortune telling.. Well anyway, opinions are always free.

for me,penmanship is not the determinant of one's personality.what if your handwriting is not that good though s/he exudes great personality.the best way to evaluate one's personality is through knowing each other.i have a friend whose handwriting is not good.but she's friendly and very kind.plus, very intelligent.see, handwriting is not the measurement of everything.
