We are supposed to return home tomorrow. The weather here is getting worse. I checked with the airlines and they said we could rebook up to Wednesday. We will make up our minds tomorrow. The Visit with Jerry and Thom and his family was very nice. It was fun to be back in South Jersey again. It brought back a lot of memories. Have you ever gone back to a place you spend a large postion of your life? What were your feeling?

OK-- I'd take the rain! I'm in upstate NY and its been snowing here off and on since yesterday! in between the snow is sleet- and even rain! And it looks like it might continue right on through til Wednesday- I have never left from my home town- So I can't say that I have gone back to visit a place- I do love visisting new places though-- I went to Carolina Beach in NC a few years back I can't wait to get back there.

LOL. It's been rainning here for almost 2 days now and as of right now it stopped (YEAH) too much rain. My mother still lives in the country where I grew up and every time I go and visit her it bring back the memories of my childhood and my father when he was alive. Hope it stops rainning up there. Have a great day.

Well, I shall be doing that soon, I mean visit my native country this June. Not that I've gone for a long time (only for 6 months), but I do miss my country. This is the first time I've been away and also the first time to work in a foreign country. Speaking of storm, there is also one here in Philadelphia (snowstorm, sleet). I am a teacher and schools are closed, so I don't go to work today. Hope the weather gets better. I'm glad you had a wonderful trip, and do have a safe trip back. Happy myLotting!

Carolee, I am very glad you had a chance visit with Jerrya nd Thom and his family. I was born in Richmond, California but I only lived there for five years. But I love going there. I feel so at home.

Well i did not ever go back to a place i spend a large position of my life there, but i would like to visit. I can share with you that as a young child, i lived a few years at New Jersey- Atlantic city, and i really want to go and visit there again, because i have a lot of pleasant child memories from there. I do not know, maybe i will do that this year or the next one. The last time i was in the USA, was 24 years ago. a long time..ahh Carolee?:)

It's nice to go back and visit old friends and family. We go back and visit our old neighborhood from time to time, but the best story about this subject is that when my husband and I first bought our house a family came over and they wanted to view the house. When I asked them why, they told me that they were the first family ever to own our home. They wanted their kids to see the house so I let them in and they walked through the house explaining about all the various work they did on the house and what improvements they made. It was nostalgic for them and I got to learn a little bit about the history of my home. Hope the rain stops soon!

Oh that is not good that you can only rebook up till Wednesday as with where I live in Australia if we cannot catch any flights for any reason and we ring up and let them know the day before we can change it at any time, they do not have a set time for us. Oh and if you were away from New Jersey for awhile you would enjoy your time with your friends I do not know you at all but this happened to me as well when I returned to some of the areas that I have lived in before. My feelings when I returned and seen my friends was so wonderful.

sorry to hear you're stuck !! I went back to Florida after 5yrs not too long ago and things have changed a lot. The places I remembered and where I grew up are either gone or something new. All this remodelling happened after I left, so it came as a huge shock !! I didn't feel like I belonged there anymore.

I just watched the news and they did say that it was snowing there. Global warmimg heh? I don't know if this kind of weather is normal for new jersey? I lived in Montreal and usually it doesn't snow in April. Yes I go back to France at least once a year. I agree it does bring back memories from when I was living there. Besides my family I still visit some of my friends when I go there and I miss those times a lot.

Hi Carolee. It's wonderful to hear from you and to know that you have had a great trip. I can't believe, though, that you are only allowed to rebook until Wednesday; I don't think that's fair considering the circumstances. We have been lucky here in Ontario (knock wood) and have apparently just missed the worst of the storm. We are getting some rain and possibly some snow but the actual storm is set to hit in the provinces to the east of us. I have revisited places that were a large portion of my younger days, and even my not so younger days, and have found the saying "You can't go home again" to be so true. The places have changed so much that it was hard to even recognize them. I guess I just wanted to go back to my memories but instead, found that all that was left of my memories was, indeed, just my memories. Have a safe journey when you do return home. Meanwhile, enjoy this chance to have an extended visit with your son and his family.

From the weather reports on the national news you may end up snowbound, if not flooded. Airlines were cancelling for days. Hope you stay safe and dry. I have visited the small rural town where I married and raised kids after having been gone for decades. I brought back memories all right, but not all great ones. The town had not changed much in twenty years - which says a lot about why I'm glad I left. There were only a very few people left living there that I wanted to ever see again. Most had moved on. While the ones I didn't care to see lingered. I was glad I didn't live there anymore. And extremely grateful for the blessing I've received there and here through all the many years. There were some very caring people who blessed my life in the midst of difficult times. I am grateful for them. And there are a lot of new friends who bless my life in better times.

You sure didn't pick the best weekend to head up this way! It hasn't gotten too bad here yet but we're under a storm warning now because of high winds rain and freezing rain. They're still unsure about snowfall. The biggest concern is the potential for power outages. I know it's my biggest concern anyway since the house I rent is all electric. If the power goes out I'll have no heat, no stove, no water...not good with a baby. It's kind of funny, as close as I am I've never been in New Jersey! I can't say I've ever gone BACK to where I spent a lot of my life because I never left. Right now I live 9 miles from the town I grew up in. For the first year of my marriage I lived 1/4 mile into another county which is the farthest from "home" I've ever been. That house is about 5-6 miles from here. Our second house was in his "hometown" but still only 11 miles from mine. I'll have small moments once in awhile like when I walked into my high school for the first time since graduation, or when I took the kids to the skating rink my ex-hubby and I went to almost every weekend as kids. I'm glad your visit is going well except for the weather. You might just as well stay an extra day or two. We miss you here but your family's more important. Enjoy a cozy day inside with them tomorrow before you get to head back to nice sunny Florida!

I talked to friends from New York today. They said the weather is quite nasty. I will pray you have a safe trip back to Orlando. I moved to New York for 5 years. I thought it would be permanent, so I did visit my hometwon area several times. I didn't like the flying part, and sometimes drove if I could stay for a few weeks. I always enjoyed it very much. There is no place like home, as they say. All the feelings of my childhood would flood me every time I went home. Now, I am back and this time it's for good. (I think!!)
