Guy pulls up behind a car at a red light. Light changes color and the car in fron of him doesn't move. Guy is impatient and honks. Car still doesn't move. Guy erupts into a nasty case of road rage and jumps out of his vehicle to go whoop up on someone. Gets to car and really starts throwing a fit. Guy in the car opens door and gets out. Arrests first guy and takes him off to jail.. Turns out non-moving car contained our local Chief of Police.. Can anyone say oops?

People need to relax, I mean, come on - was the guy in that much of a hurry that it warranted him jumping out of his car to cause so much trouble? People that suffer from road rage need to step back adn re-evaluate thier lives, something is way out focus here! You shouldn't have so much stress in your life, it isn't healthy mentally or physically for you or the people you inflict in on. Unfortunately the man that was arrested is going to turn it around in his mind and completely blame the police, won't admit that he has a problem and needs to get some help.

Maybe more information is needed, like how long the police chief was sitting at the red light. Yes, I would have been mad if he was sitting there for a while but I never, in a million years, would have gone up to the car to start a fight or even to yell at the driver. Perhaps the police chief was in the wrong but it doesn't excuse the gross behavior of the second driver, there is never a reason to act like that. If you want to act like a child by yelling and screaming and kicking then that is the way you will be treated, arrested and sent to "time-out" to cool off.

The other two responses seem to think that the police chief overreacted. I'm thinking if I was the one getting my car kicked, I'd be wanting the police to be around.

Was this some kind of set-up or something? Why wasn't the car in front of him moving? It doesn't matter that it was the chief of police, he can't hold up traffic with no good reason. I wouldn't have gotten into a fit, but I would have at least gone up to the other car and asked why he wasn't moving. If this is a true story, this would be some kind of abuse of power or something. That would make me so mad, especially after finding out he was the chief of police. What makes him so special that he can hold up traffic? Was it a police situation? I don't condone what they guy did, but I would get a good lawyer.

To the best of my knowledge the Chief was in his personal vehicle. I don't know all the particulars, but then again neither did the guy who decided to go kick someone elses car. For all he knew the person in fron of him could have been having car trouble or even some type of health issue. I think the problem was that he didn't bother to find out before he became abusive. And I'm sure he'll find a lawyer.

That's why I wouldn't have gotten real upset, but gotten out to make sure they are OK. I know quite a bit about cars and could help. But, if it was a power trip on the part of the Chief, than I would have a problem.

I can concur with that. I see so many instances where people totally fly off the handle with out even knowing the details of what is occuring in the situation. A little knowledge could be powerful.

Isn't that always the case and because he was not moving it is fine that he was holding up traffic but because a citizen said it was wrong he gets arrested ... something is wrong with this picture

I think what struck me from this story was that the citizen blew his top without checking to see what was going on. It ciould have been someone in the midst of a health crisis. He didn't check on that before he went ballistic.

What is it about getting behind the wheel of a car that turns normal people into raving lunatics.

I agree with Darlene. Just because he's the Chief of Police doesn't make him any better than the rest of us that have to follow the "rules of the road". Even police officers are supposed to obey traffic laws. The car in front wasn't a police car with lights & sirens going so he shouldn't have arrested the guy unless he actually assaulted or threatened him with bodily harm.
