there are lot of movies you are going to truly miss once you have a baby. there are movie houses who doesnt really accept an infant inside. but its ok you can rent. you can still watch it but not inside the movie house.

I take my child to the movies every few months ever since he was born. His first movie was at 4 months old. He "watched" Star Wars. He didn't fuss and was really good. Then, I took him a few more times between 4 months and 1.5 years but he couldn't sit still to watch the whole movie even if it's just animation. But generally, he was ok. But I noticed he started paying a lot more attention and can actually sit through a whole movie when he's almost 2. He really likes animation.

I think it really depends on the child. 1 is probably too young. Our son was 6 before we took him to his first movie, but I have known children as young as 3 to go and were able to sit and watch the whole movie with not so much as a peep. However my son is very active and he would not have faired so well.
