AJMSmith Do you really want to do this? Most windows programs will not run under Linux. Having said that Linux is less susecptable to viruses (viri?) and other malware.

jamz82 I know! I could guess installing linux isn't easy for newbies like me. If I install I will waste days to get it in my computer. I'm sure there will be lot of troubles for me.

Scott Yes, that is the version I used! I still have the CD and I can still boot up from CD if I like, but it doesn't install anything unless you tell it to. It is nice to get experience from Linux and if there are more drivers to install printers and things I think...

Koalemos Of course, I had forgotten about the live CD versions of several Linux distributions. This is an excellent way to try Linux and become familiar with the general outlay without ever changing your operating system.

jamz82 I think installing linux could be a little hard expecially for the hardware compatibility. Right now lookin in the net I found a version of linux called kubuntu where you can try it without installing and running it onto a cd. I'm trying that right now.

jamz82 thank you very much I think I will do a partition on my hard disc only to run linux or I will install linux onto the other hard disc. It will take a few time to do that

hiretto Gnu\Linux is free. Is OpenSource. Isnt Windows or OSX. I have switched to Linux 3 years ago and I dont use Windows anymore. I do a "wow" when I install Compiz on my Box with Gnome. Compiz is the VERY Eyecandy desktop.
