Should 'happy hols' replace 'merry xmas'?

I recently read in an article that companies in Britain are asking their employees to greet coworkers with 'happy holidays' instead of 'merry christmas'. Even the government seems to be supporting this move. Official festivities...

red2theend I think it depends on which country you're talking about. In Italy a large amount of population is catholic but quite no one who is devoted to any other religion says that Merryt Xmas is offensive... they 're just happy and they enjoy the holidays maybe, but...
