How can I be a good writer?

I have always wanted to become a good writer. I read a lot of novels, I keep a journal, I join discussion boards, I write on our school paper, etc. but still I don't think I'm already a good writer. :-(

Is anyone else having this problem, and if so, what do I do to correct it? I want to start a new discussion - I click it - then select catagory, but it goes bak to the catagory that I selected. So I do it again - same thing....
