So my 7 month old is proficent at gerber puffs and crackers of all sorts and stuff like that, things that require chewing. Now when I try to give him a jar of stage 3 gerber foods he chokes/gags. I dont get it? It's nowhere near...

4cuteboys i like that site, thats what i used for when i was making all his food. i didnt know they talked about making finger foods, i'll have to check it out!!

maildumpster Bananas, slightly overcooked pasta, soft cooked veggies, soft cooked fruit or canned fruits and veggies. Anything you eat that is soft. Yogurt. Cottage cheese. You can mash it to whatever consistency he will accept. Don't be surprised if he rejects some...

4cuteboys Yes, I was making homeade baby food for awhile but stopped. That was at first when he was learning to eat. The smashing up the food and giving it to him is a good idea though. I guess i'm just scared since he can't eat the stage 3. What other foods would be...

maildumpster It is the texture. It is thick with little lumps in it. You can try mixing just a bit of Stage 3 with Stage 2 and increase it slowly to help him adjust. You may just have to give him 3 jars of S2 for a while. Also what are you giving him in those S3's?...

lpetges i started to give my kids table food as soon as they had a couple of teeth. They loved american cheese, yogurt, macaroni and cheese, spegettios-etc. I think doctors have stock in baby food! its so not nescessary to keep them on baby food for a year!

4cuteboys no but that's not a bad idea. is there anything to stay away from? at his 6 mo old well baby check the doc said he could eat anything we eat, but i am sure there must be exceptions?

6in12years The chunks in something he expects to be mushy might be throwing him off. Have you tried just going to table food? Most of the foods we eat can be altered to be safe enough for baby. Make sure fruit and veggies are soft enough to be gummed, and won't bite off...
