is there a cure for schizophernia?

One of my brothers suffers from schizophernia.He was diognized 4 years ago and he still continues to be on medicine(olanzapine 10mg)and it depresses me immensely..he's almost 24 and yet not mature enough..he says he hears voices...

Phlamingho As far as I know there's no cure, there're medicine and in most cases the patient can lead a pretty normal life as long as he or she takes the medicine, but a cure no... Sorry ...

ESKARENA1 No im afraid medical science has no cure for schizophrenia. Social Psychiatrists also point out, we dont understand exactly what constitutes schizophrenia but rather gather behavoural problems together under a banner which will do as well as any other. It is...

PsychoDude There is no treatment available yet which actually cures it. Medication can suppress it a lot and in the worst cases surgery is sometimes applied but the a final cure is still being waited for.
