Can you i be a good person without religion?

I'm taking ethics class and my friend is taking a religeous class and they said that only with religion a person can be good and make good decisions. I'm not very religeous and dissagree with them. I'd like to see what you think?

AKRao24 I am a secular person and believe that all religions are to be respected equally while i believe in only one religion that is 'Humanity' and I am quite happy with it as need not pretend and have dual personality in the name of God! Thanks dear @Ancheeh!
