a_ce_e That is tough one. I guess it will depends on the situation. If i feel that the case is very abusive on my part, i will bring the case to the court even he/she is a family member, but the situation can be deal smoothly, i think there is no need.

wackeytiger I'd hope that a situation like that would never happen. I guess it just depends on the situation though. If I wasn't close with the family member it would be a whole lot easier to take them to court.

wiccania That's horrible. But it might make them more careful just being near the street, you know? And that watchfulness might rub off on their friends and could very well save a few lives.

wiccania Sit them down, explain to them what happened. Be honest. It might be a little upsetting, but it will also give them a good reason to be extra watchful when near or crossing the street.

sunshine4 I don't understand why you can't get a restraining order. I was advised to get one for someone making numerous harrassing phone calls. I would get a lawyer for the safety of my other children. So sorry to hear about your oldest.
