I might try to have a dialog with the person, but if I see that there is no way to have a discussion than I give up and ignore the person.

I speak calmly and sweetly, and after I butter them up a bit I scold them like a teacher for being so rude. It works sometimes, if nothing else, to make them feel bad.

I would still try to talk to them but I would not try to argue with them or make things worse. Find something they like talking about and see if that helps calm them down a bit. If they get out of hand or get me upset, then I would just walk away from them.

I try and talk to them politely but if they have an attitude I just tend to not bother with them in the future - there's no point is there - people with an attitude are generally very insecure people and not genuine
