I hate this mandate. I think it has greatly harmed our public school system, which already has enough problems. No funding was mandated for all the changes that need to take place.

I think we needed a scapegoat, someone to blame for the twin towers attack. When we couldn't find Bin Laden, Bush still needed to look like he was doing something... so, hence, Operation Iraqi freedom or whatever euphemism he is...

Yes, they are. With the lack of funding and the movement toward voucher systems and privitization, Republicans are trying to undermine public education.
