Why are people attracted to making pennies an hour on the internet?

The phenomena of people spending hours on the internet to make an average of pennies an hour is fascinating to me. Don't get me wrong, I'm not ridiculing these people. After all, I'm on here, and I've even wasted some time here...

I am over 30 and I do not wear makeup ,but I have been told that I should. If I do not like wearing makeup than why should I?? Makeup feels so nasty and I never can get it on right. Plus for some reason it does not last and...
