What is the point in guns?

I am asking this question honestly and want honest answers. What point do guns serve in our society and why do you think we should have the right to own guns? And I'm talking besides hunting for food, military and law enforcement....

gir2203 guns can be used for defense but most people just have them for fun such as shooting at a gun range or hunting. most people who buy them for defense may never even use their gun but just feel safer knowing if they need to they can defend themself
